You guys are cruel I say. Trying to make a fellow go broke I say. If I get back into mini's, I'm playing bugs and reptiles. Tyranids for 40K and Croks for War Gods.

I blame your computer. Or your quite sane desire to avoid looking at expensive miniature porn.

Warmachine makes some nice minis. Glad I'm not really into them or I'd have to watch even more money get traded for more unpainted metal to sit around.

    Re: After hour gaming! (miniature)

I know that I wandered over to an upstairs area last year where they were playing FoW at about 8 or 9 pm. It was a lot of fun to just hang and watch and pick up some pointers. I don't think I've ever met a minis player that doesn't appreciate real interest in their game or their modeling/painting.

    Re: After hour gaming! (miniature)

I will be bringing Dark-age and WM/Hordes this year.

It is always trying but I will have to ensure that I limit the number of factions/armies that I bring, as it is a pain to ship them to my parents house prior to the event and ship them back home afterwards.

It definately requires that I plan my armies better!  But encourages me to only bring the painted stuff.

good thinking, i usually have everything painted as a rule. I get more satisfaction from painting than gaming most times lol. We still have to figure out what days we can actual all get together or atleast post times so that others can stop by watch/demo..

    Re: After hour gaming! (miniature)

I'm bringing several army options for Confrontation. For those who aren't familiar with the game, the various races all have faction packs as well, making Goblins (For example) into 7 or 8 different armies, with entirely different feels.

Example: Black Rats use Naptha powered weapons, as well as focusing on other tech, while The Mound of Dirt focuses on elite Knights and units of few, but very tough melee troops. Clan X is the Mutant faction (Yes, yes...I know...and goblins are very prone to Mutations) .the Burrowers are a plains living tribe, who forsake the goblins usual reliance on numbers for ferocious heroes, and an even stronger synergy with the Trolls that share their warrens.

So, I will be bringing Goblins, Orcs, maybe some Cadwallon (Free City of Mercs). Plenty of options to show others the game...

I might bring my Hordes (Trollkin) or Warmachine (Cygnar) as well, depemding on space.

    Re: After hour gaming! (miniature)

I will (probably) be bringing an army or two for confrontation as well. I have goblins too. The rackham goblins are awesome visually. I couldn't pick just one theme, so I don't enjoy the benefits of the themes, but I do get to bring the red troll, dai-bakemonos, and noble strohm knights. I will also be bringing my wolfen, and my Tir-Na--Bor Dwarves, if I come up with three different army configurations, and they all fit in my travel case. I'm flying in, so space is limited. But I have no scheduled games, so I'm hoping there will be pick up games after hours. In particular, I'd be interested in learning Hordes.  Just to be clear, hordes and warmachine don't overlap, right? Sometimes I see references that look like they do, but I thought they didn't. I want to give it a try, if only because I can't seem to find local opponents for confrontation. I might try warmachine, but I painted a box of jacks once, and while it came out ok, it just didn't appeal to me. I like critters better. They didn't have much that wasn't jacks for warmachine at that time, and they might be more interesting now that the line is more fleshed out.

Cerealkiller: Painting is what got me into confrontation. They are consistantly the best minis out there.  Find a faction that appeals to you and have fun.

And while I'm on the subject, any Northern Va minis gamers around?

I don't have any Minis and don't know any of the modern rules, this is going to be first gen con and not played minis in quite some time. I will most likely just watch and learn but will be nice to see all the great paint jobs I am sure.

Actually you can play them against each other.  The Summer League is for Warmachine oo Hordes.  They have an updated rulebook coming out for Hordes, probably just before GC, that makes it even easier to cross play.

I play Legion of Everblight fo Hordes andCryx for Warmachine.

I have yet to paint my Legion, so I'm not sure if I'll have them with me or not.

    Re: After hour gaming! (miniature)

Just to offer further clarification; Warmachine and Hordes overlap as much or as little as you want them to.  Hordes is an independent game and if you have a slew of like-minded creature lovers among those you game with, you could never touch Warmachine from a gameplay perspective.  However, since both games occur in the same world, at the same time, some elements of the backstory overlap and the games can be played against one another.

My brother and I will both have our Hordes stuff - be happy to teach the game, though I'm sure that there will be plenty of opportunities to learn - not the least of which from the PP guys themselves.
