If someone wanted to further their addictions (one guess who), and look at Warhammer 40K, is there anyone out there willing to add fuel to that fire and give an intro game for it? I'm most interested in playing Tyraninds, if that helps.

So, what's that number to Gamer's Anonymous?

I admit I am not the greatest teacher, however I do have Eldar and Chaos space marine armies I was planning on dragging along. As long as time permits I would be willing to sit down and play a quick skirmish to introduce the rules to you.

Eldar are elven, right? while Chaos Space Marine are bricks.

When I played Warhammer Fantasy Battle, I generally played Chaos. Of course, this is going back before they had their own line of figs, and it was just the hardback books. I got out when they changed the size from 25 mm to 28+mm and guys made fun of me because of my midget chaos warriors. (Hey, they could have been mutations.)

Revised (or 3rd, or whatever the box set was) took away Chaos using ranged weapons pretty much all together. I though this was crazy. Whenever I tried playing, if I was against elf or empire, I could clean up IF I could get in close, otherwise, they whittled me down rather quickly. Beastmen didn't like arrows, and Chaos Warriors didn't like artillery. Oh, yea... and with all that armor, I couldn't catch them once they ran. It got real boring real quick.

Basically, eldar are fast attack, hit and run types. While chaos are lots of firepower and armor but higher point values per figure.

I'm also plannnig on bringing some 40K with me (most likely the newly revamped Blood Angels).  So, I can throw in for some games as well.

So, theoretically, the Chaos SM's are slightly cheaper to collect? Wink
They probably just charge more per fig with them.

I just think the Tyranids look cool and could have some great paint schemes.

That's how I decide what faction of a game I want to play.  Whichever looks the coolest to me is what I play.  I'm playing to have fun, not necessarily to win, but if I win, that's a bonus.

I'm the exact same on this. I generally end up starting an army over one or two cool looking figures and play for fun. I do think you get better, tactically, doing this as you sort of learn to work with what you have, versus constantly purchasing the power army or unit (unless of coarse they have one or two really cool looking figures Wink).

yeah this year i found all the games that were remotely on my radar and i already have them bought, painting them and slowly reading the rules. I hope to get a bunch of skirmish type games in. I wish i could bring my 40k stuff out but i don't think I'm going to have enough room (as i want to have everything be a carry on for the plane)

though i'm sure the dealer room will have the allure of some new games i didn't get a good look as well as many pre-releases for games i'm already into. For the most part i want to game as much as possible go to my events, game some more and do other random things. Now how far are all the rooms for miniature gaming going to be? should we just meet more or less in one place hang around there. Or does one place have better terrain than the other? potentially?

This is good question, has any one found any kind of map that shows where the miniature gaming area is? I've seen this question posted a lot, but have not found any firm answers, or even better, map(s).

I have two ideas to make it easier for us to be spotted. The first one is easy, my son, who will be with me, has a very large black and white checkered top hat. It's pretty easy to spot. He also wants to learn to plan Hordes at this Gen Con, so if anyone wants to start with him against his trollbloods, please let me know.

The second idea is we come up with some kind of name or symbol for us and the group. I can print up a whole bunch of these before I leave and we can post them around to make it easier for us to find each other. I'm thinking this would work well in case we have to change locations on different nights.

Does any have any ideas for names and or symbols? I figure, if nothing else, several posts will keep us at the front of the forums rather than page 3 as we get closer to G-Day!

i have to jet to work soon, but i would imagine signs that say "open gaming" maybe with a skull and crossbones picture would work well. Since most of the events are scattered this year i would say just pick one spot where they are holding events and they leave their stuff out overnight.

worse come to worse mass texting to where everyone is going to meet would work, i remember gencon having computers a couple years back we can post a message daily where we will all be gaming that night. How early does everyone want to game?

    Hi !

I'm interested in learning / playing Warmachine. I'll be in Indy since Wednesday and I'm up for some late night gaming on Wednesday.

Anybody willing to teach me the ropes and play a game? I wouldn't want to be abusive, but I don't have any Warmachine figures (part of my buying list for the Con) so I'd need a kind soul to lend me some minis and play with me.

Also, where are you guys meeting? Even if I can't play, I'd love to meet you guys and watch some games.

Time and Place? I'll be there if its late night gaming, cause I've got a meeting with my friends from Gen Con UN at the Ram. I expect to be free around midnight on Wednesday.

    Re: After hour gaming! (miniature)

    Guys,

Historical minis will be mostly  in Serpentine Halway (second Floor Hall of the ICC) Non Historicals will be Mostly in the Wabash rooms (1st floor of the ICC just off the main lobby).

Thursday Night my Private Ryan tablee will be available.  It will be a 4X 6 set-up roughly resembling the final battle from Savin Private Ryan.  Big ruined church and tower, narrow streets, lots of rubble and ruined buildings. As I hacve said befor you may use it as long as you put everything back when you're done so I can just show up to run my 9am Friday game.

The rest of my terrain is at you disposal as long as Bubba  takes responsibility.

Wish I could play with you guys but I can't stay up that late and be fresh enough to GM on Friday.

    Thanx

    Robin

Thank you Rbree! i would say lets stick to the historical hall? A ruined city fits just about any game that was mentioned, if not i'm sure there will be open fields to play around in. If there are any problems we can all congregate to the next hall? So far we have thursday confirmation for after hours. I will set the time at or around 10:00-10:30? Whats everyone think?
