    WildeEnchantress:

Okay--what a list I could make lol, so I'll just hit on a few "key" points:

    • I helped hubby paint our run down station wagon with red, white, blue stripes and stars after 9/11.
    • I was born and raised part of the time in Nebraska--but was a military brat the rest of the time.
    • I went to college in Oklahoma for a little while.  Competed in a "Best Chest in the West" contest at a local bar called Slammers--and took 2nd place!
    • Have taken a "BEER" bath--and danced my way through the whole thing lol. Wink
    • I have eaten turtle--and it tasted just like chicken!
    • I chugged homemade beer from a gallon milk jug at a party.
    • Went to see Loretta Lynn in concert with my momma, and can sing every one of her songs!!
    • I drove my daddy's pickup truck my senior year of high school--and even hauled a rowdy crowd of friends, with baseball bats, in the back to a rival school during a feud.
    • Went to the Corn Days Parade for at least 5 years in a row, every July 4th weekend--while we were out camping.
    • Have helped cook everything from a turkey  to chicken noodle soup, from scratch, on the grill.
    • One of my cousin's wives cheated on him with another male cousin, so they got divorced.  The ex-wife then married cousin number two.  The grandmother of the children born of these couplings--is also their aunt (and my aunt too.)  Cousin number two divorced from ex-wife of cousin number one--at which time we found out that he had also been having a long time thing with BLOOD relative female cousin from another state. Ick!  (Daughter of my mom's brother.)
    • Oh yeah--and I HAVE wrestled in a pool of green Jello-O and played Twister in my jammies, and been kissed by other girls!! (That weren't my cousins. Wink )

    Hows that?

I think we just found out where the Wild part of her name came from! Surprise

    Very nice qualifications.

OK, you're in, but I'd like more info on the Chevelle.  Was the hole in the floor for spitting tobacco?  When I was a kid, I knew a guy who cut a hole in the floor of his '76 Nova so he could spit through the floor while driving.

My family has roots and an old tobacca farm in Kentucky.

My father still has a freaking mullet.

My cousin once hit on me at a family trip to King's Island.

     I have been snipe hunting...

Oh...and although you all will call me Med...the country fam calls me Ginnie...

    Just call me Med

So instead of the more traditional moniker of Ginnie Mae, you are Ginnie Med?

I've been meaning to apply for a while now, but I'm lazy. Here's my qualifications:

    • Lived in Florida for 10 years (now I live in Illinois)
    • Instead of cleaning a particularly nasty set of dirty dishes, my roommates and I buried them in the backyard
    • Used empty beer cans as Christmas tree ornaments
    • Had a camero up on blocks in my front yard for months while my roommate worked on her. Not sure the year--he bought a camero frame and built the rest from the ground up. Went for a ride to Krystal's a few times--no instruments in the dashboard, no seatbelts, no inside covers for the doors.
    • Been to a UK-UF football game (sorry, but I'm a Gator.)
    • Ate horse (although that might work against me for Kentucky folk, it was damn tasty)
    • Can't sing "You Shook Me All Night Long" without singing the Hayseed Dixie cover--and I'm currently singing it to my 8-month old boy
    • Been drinking sweet tea long before McDonald's ever thought of selling it
    • Believe a roll of paper towels is a set of napkins, especially for barbeque (got it from eating at Sonny's, though that might be a Florida thing)
    • Brewed my own beer in a burlap sack in the coat closet
    • Eaten homemade biscuits and gravy
    • Believe fireworks are good for 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Arbor Day, Christmas, Easter, and for shooting at your friends any old time.
    • I barbeque Spam

    There. How's that?

    • Ate horse (although that might work against me for Kentucky folk, it was damn tasty)
-1 point Don't you know that horses are sacred in KY?  But only -1 point cause ya know a guys gotta eat an all.  This would be a draw if the horse was BBQ'd in a homemade oil drum smoker.

    WJMacGuffin:

    • Brewed my own beer in a burlap sack in the coat closet
+2 points  Anytime you make your own Hooch it's a Plus in the KFG points. Could have been +10 if this was just the first step in makin 'Shine Big Smile

    WJMacGuffin:

    • Eaten homemade biscuits and gravy

+1 point  You mean that there are people who haven't??  dang are they deprived.

    WJMacGuffin:

WJMacGuffin, I will forgive you for the football transgression.  I purport to know how much one could get excited by a consistently winning college football program.  I've never experienced it, but I've read books about it.  I'll ask a Mod to add you to the group.  Follow the instructions in the first post.

Yep, this is probably a bug in the software.  It's been happening to several folks.  We've been keeping our lively discussions to the public forum for the most part until, one day in the distant future, the software is upgraded.

I think my link to the KFG site is down as well since it never wants to take me to ol Bluegrass anymore. I honestly haven't spent a lot of time digging around to see if the error was on my end or the server's end.

Oh, where to begin - I suppose with the the family tree?

    • We have branch that repeats. Yes - I have cousins who were first cousins, that petitioned a judge to let them get married, and because of all the fueding between their parents, managed to keep this knowledge from their own kids until they were grown... one of their poor kids even tried to tell me there was no way I could be related on BOTH of her parents' sides!
    • My grandmother was born and raised in Tell City IN, which is just across the river from KY. If you stand in the right spot, you can see KY. I once met this really cute guy at a family reunion and we snuck down by the crick together... to drink some stolen beer and throw rocks at the other cousins. (And yes, he's from KY - Russell Station)
    • I have been married for almost 18 years now. Of course, for the last eight, he's been living with his girlfriend. And I've been living with my boyfriend for the last five..
    • My daughter was seventeen when she came home pregnant. And the baby-daddy dropped out of highschool to get his GED, then changed his mind to get a job, then decided that was too much work, so now he's "looking for work" because that's easier.
    • I had both an Uncle Cracker, and an Uncle Spud. These names have never seemed odd to me.
    And just for kicks -
    • I was raised in a trailer park.
    • The first vehicle I ever drove was a sugar beet truck.
    • We turned field tile into fruit loops for our freshman homecoming float. The next year, we used garage door track to make our giant tootsie roll move.
    • Give me 10 minutes with anyone who lives south of I70 and I will sound like I belong in KY.
    • Top 5 karaoke faves - "I Feel Lucky", "Crazy", "Nobody", "Strawberry Wine" and "What's Up?" (4 NonBlondes) Toss a little JoDee Messina - or maybe some "Delta Dawn" or "Fancy" - and I've had a great night!
And yes, I had a mullet back in the day. I'm sure if I dig hard enough at my folks', I could find the proof.

We always celebrate my son's birthday at the "Bean Festival". I live in the city that gives MI the "River Roar" boat races and the "Pig Gig" rib cook off. And the next town up the road just finished their annual "Corn Festival". Yes - I live in the thumb crack, baby! If living in the crack ain't redneck, then I'd better go watch me some more blue collar...

I do have to admit, though, that I have never had my nipple bitten off by a beaver, my son did have a friend who shot his own eye out with a b-b gun. Is that close enough?
