    Whats up with the bread?

While I was at the Con I noticed groups of people with a loaf of bread. Then I saw more people with bread. Whats up with the loaves of bread?

Is it to fill your stomach so you dont have to eat a meal?    Was it a charity drive?

I was lost on all the bread people had.

Glad I'm not the only one with the bread question.

I couldn't figure that one out.

Yes thanks afira, I was all confused on the bread thing. I was thinking "Damn hardcore gamers! Live off of bread and Mt. Dew!"

    That would get old quick.

I was wondering about it myself. Especially after spotting a few left behind loaves on chairs and couches in the little lounge areas near the various entry doors.

would you like 50 eggs with your bread?

I saw some very 'industrious' individuals trying to get people to take $5 bets that they couldn't eat 2 pieces of bread in 1 minute.  Ala the milk bet.  But what's funny is that as easy as that sounds, even doing 1 piece of bread in 1 minute is supposedly near impossible.

Thanks for the explaination.  I was wondering too.  Actaully, 2 years ago the same bread manufacturer gave away bread at the Thursday baseball game.  Clearly GenCon also means some bread give away promotion in Down Town Indy!Big Smile

Yes, Sara Lee was doing a promo and giving away free loaves of bread in the food court at the mall. What was sad was that kids were taking them and hitting each other with the loaves. Then as we were leaving the mall someone had tossed a loaf all over the side walk outside on the way back to the mall. They could of at least have given it to some of the homeless out on the street instead of wasting it.

Re: would you like 50 eggs with your bread?

Most of the bread you saw at the Con was probably because of Morton's List. It's a random adventure game, and one of the quests was to go around the area and find free food. They happened upon all the free bread at the mall and, so, brought what they could carry back to the Con. Devil

    Funny thing.

The "homeless" people that were receiving bread were all peeved that it wasn't cold hard cash. I hate con artists, panhandlers, whatever. If they think they can be "homeless" with a cell phone, they're wrong. Some guy was yelling at some people saying some pretty nasty things when he got bread instead of some loose change.

    It's a shame, really.

Sadly, I saw alot of bread dropped on sidewalks outside.  So I doubt they'd do the free bread thing again when people litter. Luckily, it's bread, so hey, free birdfood!
