    We need a logo!

I gotta run, so I'll put more here this afternoon. BUT...we need some kind of logo for our group, for t-shirts and such.

    Anyone artistically minded, any ideas?

How about a bunch of gamers with hammers and ladders, hammering on a big D20 house?  Like a D20, but with a window, and maybe a roof with a chimney.

I swear, as I picture this in my head, it's completely adorable.  Wish I could draw.

See...my wife and I were just talking last night, and we were thinking something very similar: we thought of a regular house, but being worked on by various gaming characters...a nordic barbarian using a huge war hammer to pound a nail, a dwarf using an ax on sawhorses instead of a circular saw, etc.

My original more mundane logo idea was something like a d20, but colored like a globe. But, that's boring. :)

Here's the first thing that popped into my head. I didn't want to limit us to building houses, so we can keep the door open for future proejcts.

That's where my brain was going, too!

I'm not even gonna post my version.  Yours is so much cleaner, simpler and better than mine.

Cody, I know I'm not going on the trip, but if I can express an opinion. I really like that.  It's simple, clean and allows for growth within the group. At first I wasn't crazy about the green and blue together, but it grows on ya.

Heh. That's our boy. Big Smile

Seriously. Do you know how much Shrieking Emu has contributed in the way of artwork for different groups over the past couple years? A sick, sick amount, It tell you. I postulate that he's a glutton for punishment. Stick out tongue

Well done, my friend, well done.

I have to admit I'm a bit jealous Cody, that is much better than what I had been working on.  A lot cleaner design, but it captures the heart of what I think the group wants to do.  I say it is awesome and should be adopted as the logo as soon as possible!

I hate it.  I find it supercilious and unctious with a dash of poo-poo smelly thrown in.

(OK, OK, I admit...I L-o-v-e LOVE it!  But think of Emu's ego, people!  His head could swell beyond the confines of the Adidas Global Lithography and Espionage Center, or wherever the hell he works.  We must protect him from the fallout of his own prodigious artistic talents!  He must remain hale enough to swing a hammer this April!)

    Re: We need a logo!

Well, I think we have ourselves a logo, ladies and gents. Good work Emu! :D

    Now, our next goal...

I've been talking to Megan Culver at Gen Con. Gen Con, as evidenced by these fancy digs we have, wants to help us out in a lot of cool ways. One way is a web-presence, starting with a trading of banners. So, we need a banner, one that will eventually reside on Gen Con's website and be linked to the GfH site (once the GfH site is up and running).

Who is skilled with banner-fu? We have a logo for the banner now :)

You know, as just a suggestion; that's an awesome logo; you could use that on shirts as the front crest, and then make different shirts every year, like some other group I know does, with different artwork, for different trips.  Just a thought.

    Definately a possibility.

Right now, I'm thinking t-shirts like 'race' shirts, like you get at a 5k or 10k, or at community fundraiser basketball games and such. The logo of the group is on the front, but the back is given to corporate sponsor love. Gen Con's logo needs to be on the back of the shirt, along with any other companies that end up being nice enough to help us out. Corporate sponsors definately need recognition for their sponsorship, and the shirt is the easiest way to do it.

But the front can be all ours, with Emu's logo being the foundation of each shirt. The cheapest shirts will be one-color screen prints, but that logo will look great in a single color, too.

BTW, Emu: did you go off of Habitat's logo colors when you did that, or was that a happy accident?

Nope, I just figured I'd use a blue and green combo for an "Earth" feel. I think the blue I used is a bit lighter than HfH's, though.

Also, I appreciate all of the kind words and encouragement about the logo. Thanks, guys! Smile

Hey Jonathan. Thanks for the offer :D

At the moment, I think we're going to be going with Emu's logo for the group logo, but if you've got general design ideas, we'd like to hear them.

We're planning a 'Game Drive' at the moment, collecting games to distribute to people in NOLA. We still need a general t-shirt design, incorporating Emu's logo on the front, with corporate sponsor logos on the back (Gen Con, Offworld Designs, etc). So you can shoot me any ideas you have. Use the 'Contact' button above my post to find a link to my email.
