event submission note in general email blast

This was included in the general attendee email blast today, and I wanted to post it here to make sure everyone saw it.

Event submission is just around the corner, we’ll begin accepting events for Gen Con Indy 2008 on February 3rd.

There will be a few changes to how locations are assigned. There will be multiple event placement cycles during the submission period instead of everything being placed at the end.

    ·        All events submitted in a cycle will be placed before events in later cycles.

    ·        Events submitted in later cycles may not be accepted if space is not available. The convention center is undergoing construction and space will be at a premium.

    ·        If we do not have space for your event at the requested time, we will inform you and you may resubmit your events for another time.

Next week another email blast will be sent out with more details on event submission (and only event submission).

If you have any questions, please email us at events@gencon.com or stop by the GM forum.

Full details will be announced in next week's email blast, and I fully expect everyone to have a ton of questions about these new event review cycles.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the GMing quidelines.  Especially those on earning Badges.  It was such an interesting process last year, and am wondering if there are any more changes planned.

Re: event submission note in general email blast

Nope, not for earning badges. That process will work the same - the only change will be the deadline to submit a badge list that you want prepared on site - those will be due at the end of event registration (June 22nd). Anything submitted after that is not guaranteed to be ready right away on Wednesday night. We may have to print it on-site and thus you'll need to wait until we've dealt with the big rush of GMs who need to pick everything up.

So, in plain English: get your GM badge requests in by June 22nd and they'll be ready to pick-up-and-go when GM HQ opens on Wednesday (traditionally 5 pm). I can't promise that anything submitted after that will be available right away, we may have to print and process them on site and they may not be ready until later Wednesday night (or even Thursday if you have a huge number of badges you need prepared).

    Make sense?

I understand the badge confirmation, but I don't get the hotel confirmation code. What website do I register and how much will the room cost after registering.

Re: event submission note in general email blast

I'm not sure what you mean by "confirmation." There aren't any confirmation or codes for GM badges and hotels.

When you buy an attendee badge, however, you will get an email confirmation with the hotel code that you can use to book your room. Full instructions and details are included in the email but you'll be selecting and booking your room through the Passkey web site and the price for the room completely depends on what kind of room you want and in what hotel.

Full details on that are included when you buy an attendee badge and there's nothing special for GMs there. If you have any questions or problems getting yourself set up, just send Aleta an email at customerservice@genocn.com.
