Chainmaille Earring Workshops - Info and Styles available

This post is to hold this thread for me to post more info about my seminars. I am posting it now to get the link to put in my event description. I will bump it back up with current info as available. Wink

    Thanks!! Big Smile

The first bit of info is that I have submitted the two workshops, one as a beginner class and one as intermediate. I had to go with $28 for the cost instead of $26, to help cover the 10% admin fee for events over $20.

Update 2/29 - Both events have been accepted for consideration. Now it's just a matter of waiting to see if they make the schedule. I am working on samples of the styles to be taught, and will try to post pics for feedback sometime next week.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread. Lesimony, which event ID's are these? There are a lot of chainmaille events listed this year!

Re: Chainmaille Earring Workshops - Info and Styles available

Dang-it, I thought for sure I had posted the event numbers. Here they are:

SPA00068 Chainmaille Earrings - Beginner Workshop

SPA00069 Chainmaille Earrings - Intermediate Workshop

I had planned to have sample pics and other info posted by now, but the NOLA trip really put me behind schedule and now my desktop (where I do all my photo editing, etc) died and needs a new power supply. But I will post here tonight with at least the names/descriptions of the styles.

Re: Chainmaille Earring Workshops - Info and Styles available

Ok, for the Beginner class, there will be a choice of a "Barrel" weave  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/stuntman172002/BABarrelsear.jpg or E4n1 "sideways diamond" http://www.theringlord.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=6311,
    http://www.theringlord.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=7024

The Intermediate class will be Aura/Inverted Aura: http://www.mailleartisans.org/gallery/pics/26180tiear1.jpg, http://www.theringlord.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=5940,

IMPORTANT NOTE: The pictures I have linked to are the styles I plan to teach, but are NOT of earrings I have made. There were made by other members of some chainmaile forums I am on. As soon as I get my desktop working, I'll change the links to pics of the samples I have made for the classes.

Those are cool! I need Miranda to go to the Intermediate class and make the Aura earrings for me. There's no way I could figure it out.

Re: Chainmaille Earring Workshops - Info and Styles available

Love the pics, unfortunately only could see the 1st style in the internediate class - but loved the first style!  I hope we can get a slot for the both of us again this year -

    Thanks!

What level experience is needed for the Intermediate workshop? I did your workshop last year - is that enough?

Re: Chainmaille Earring Workshops - Info and Styles available

I would say it depends on how well you did in last year's workshop. I failed last year's workshop, so I know I'm not ready for Intermediate. I figure when my daughter chose the harder design and I chose the easy design and she finished before I did, that's an indication that I need to be held back.

Re: Chainmaille Earring Workshops - Info and Styles available

Sephera is basically right. If you were able to get to the point having your earrings at least mostly completed at my class last year (meaning you grasped how to put the rings together to form the correct pattern), then you should be fine for the intermediate class this year.

mistiqueallie - Glad you signed up, and looking forward to meeting you as well.

    As of 9:15 pm PST:

    SPA00068 Beginner class - 5 slots available

    SPA00069 Intermediate class - 2 slots available

Not selling out immediately like last year, but I'm not surprised considering I had to raise the price so much, and that there are several other chainmaille classes to choose from. (I'm actually surprised at how many offer slots for 24 people. That seems like a lot of people to work with in a 2 hour time slot.)

Greed? Maybe assistants? I'm not able to make either class, but ThatPhoneGirl snagged your intermediate one, and I know she's interested in that kit thing.

Miranda's in the Intermediate class. I know Tomimouse and her daughter are as well. I could go too, but I would be lost. Unfortunately, I have something else scheduled for the time when the beginner class runs. Bummer. Sad
