Event Scheduling Timeline
Hi Everyone, A quick question that hopefully has an easy answer: once one's events have been reviewed and accepted, at what point do they typically get scheduled? Or in other words, when will I be able to start scheduling other parts of my Con? Thanks

Re: Event Scheduling Timeline
Unfortunately, I don't think the answer is "easy". Per the Event Host Policy (which you did read, right? ):
|
Ent Timeline |
|
Event Submission Opens |
February 3, 2008 |
|
Event Review Cycle 1 |
February 3 – February 25, 2008 |
|
Event Review Cycle 2 |
February 26 – March 17, 2008 |
|
Event Review Cycle 3 |
March 18 – March 31, 2008 |
|
Event Submission Closes |
March 31, 2008 |
|
Event Changes |
April 14, 2008 |
|
Event Registration Opens |
April 21, 2008 |
|
Layout Changes |
May 4, 2008 |
|
Event Registration Ends |
June 22, 2008 |
So, based on that timeline, if you got them in by Feb 25th, you will hopefully know before March 17. But realistically, it all depends on how many events where submitted for review, and how long it takes them to get to yours. You'll probably get the "Accepted for Consideration" status fairly quickly. But the actual schedule and placement of events could take as long as until April 14.

Re: Event Scheduling Timeline
Yeah, the GM forum's a more direct place for that sort of question - but the quick answer is "We'll let you know as soon as things are quasi-finalized." Hopefully that'll be nice and quick and easy, but since we've changed the review and placement process so much thie year we've avoided giving hard dates for locations in case there are complications. I'll keep people posted as best I can.
That said, if you got your events in before last Monday (Feb 25th) and they're part of cycle 1, then most likely there won't be any conflicts. If you didn't submit for prime-time on Friday or Saturday it is even more likely that you'll get your requested times. We don't usually ask people to adjust their schedule unless we just flat-out don't have the space for them during that time slot, so the less competition you have for your space the more likely you are to get what you want

Re: Event Scheduling Timeline
Derek, Did you mean before the 25th ? or by the end of the 25th ? Just wondering because the timeline says the next cycle starts Feb 26th and the first cycle ends feb 25th and I sent in most of mine ON the 25th . Thanks

Re: Event Scheduling Timeline
Dylanesque30:Arrrgh, Monday registration. I'm going to have to take that day off.
That date might change - it's primarily set by Registraiton, not Events. So keep an eye on the site for new news.

Thanks The 25th's the deadline, so as long as you got it in on that day, you're fine. No worries

Re: Event Scheduling Timeline
Now I gotta sit here and wonder if the guy I'm GM'ing for got his event in before the 25th!
