    Indy Build?

I cut this from the other thread because I didn't want to corrupt the official NOLA thread.

    Tom:

Make sure you set aside time for the Indy build. I'm thinking the Tuesday before the Con, at the moment.

Tom, do we have any solid information about this yet? I know you're gearing up for the NOLA trip, so it's OK to say no.  I mentioned this to the CGG and several of their members are interested in coming into Indy early and working on this build if we need/want the help. I told them I would get them info as soon as I have it, because they have already requested time off work for Gen Con.

Also, this would be a great build to promote on the PulpCast that is asking for info about the group.

    Re: Indy Build?

I am going to be contacting the Indy Habitat people this week (hopefully).

And yeah, there are things we'll have to figure out...like where people will stay that extra day. Some people might be able to extend hotel rooms for the Con to Tuesday, but that's a pretty expensive option. One possibility would be to beg people who live in the area to put out-of-towners up for the night. Mavens, perhaps? ;)

Right now, I'm planning on a Tuesday build, and maybe even Wednesday. Habitat work days are over at 3pm, so that would give people time to get cleaned up for Stinks and such.

Come help with the Gamers For Humanity Gen Con Game Drive!

I'm still wanting to do this. I'm going to try and see if my SIL can keep the kids.

I live about 40 minutes north of Downtown (not sure where the build would be though). If some people needed to crash at my place Tuesday night, that shouldn't be a problem. But it is farther to drive.

    Re: Indy Build?

I'm about 30 minutes from downtown and I could *possibly* offer our house for a couple people. The biggie that prevents me from saying "sure, anyone can stay here" is that my Mom is coming in town to stay with my kids those days so we can do the build and Gen Con. With her already here and the fact she's doing us a HUGE favor by coming and doing this for us, I hate to have others coming in and out during that time.

If it's just one or possibly two we might be able to put them up for the night.

    Re: Indy Build?

I have to double-check my reservation, but I think I reserved a room Tuesday night. I don't remember for certain, though.

(after finding the paper, which happened to be sitting next to me, it says no).

If we get enough people going together on rooms for the one night, it should not be a big problem, and lets everyone be available for KFG gaming on Tuesday night and Wednesday, as well.

I'll be sneaking into Indy sometime Monday so I should be able to make the Tuesday build, provided this night owl remembers to wake up by 7 a.m. and not wait to go to bed until then <g>

Thanks for the offer, but you have to have a special exhibitor badge to get in and help with the set up. Right now, the half-booth is really not going to be a big set up job, so unless something changes, I think I'll be able to do it with minimun effort.  I have been getting in good with some other vendors (tall, strong, sexy men) to help with the heavy lifting or tall stuff if needed. I did not know that ^_^ thought I'd least offer but with a deal like big, tall sexy men I should offer a camera instead of help?! Wink

Now we see her true reasons... she wants to keep them all to herself... I didn't know you already got assigned next to FDG's booth.

Actually, we have requested to be next to FDG, but booth numbers are still in process of being assigned. She will have my hubby to assist, and I definitely think he qualifies as tall, strong, and sexy. Stick out tongue

I don't expect booth setup to take more that an hour or two. I can set up in less than two hours at outdoor events even when it involves unloading the truck, putting up the tent, etc, etc.

    Re: Indy Build?

Seeing that a lot of the work for the GamersForHumanity booth can and will be done ahead of time, I'm not imagining that the setup will take very long at all. I'll also be there to help set it up, but I'm thinking that, depending on where the work site is, that I could put in most of the day at the work site and still be there to get the booth set up.

(I'm just tall, though, so I'll bring Lou Ferrigno and Claudia Black for the 'strong' and 'sexy' aspects...or maybe just Hillary Swank on both counts.)

You bring Hillary Swank, and I think we will get a ton of visits at the booth, much like whats-her-name (I am horrible with names) from Heroes (I think) that was at Peter's booth.
