Browse and search event listings online

I have again taken the event listings and put them online in a browsable and searchable system. I hope the search functionality is particularly useful. You can search across all days. You can limit the search to a particular time range ("What can I fit between noon and 5?"). You can search subsets of the categories ("I'm only interested in RPG and RPGA events.") You can filter based on the age or experience requirements ("I want hard-core gamers, so only show me games with a 'mature' age requirement and 'Extensive Experience Required' or higher"). You can limit your search to events with tickets available (regrettably this will usually lag the official site's data by day or so.)

Note that at the moment the number of seats in an event isn't available, so it's all listed as 0. I won't be able to add this until the the official data adds it.

I'll be updating the site with the official data as it's released.

I'll be working on improving it over the next few weeks.  In the next day or two I'll see about cleaning up any typos and adding a few missing fields.

(2008-03-28 addition): Trying to track down a GM whose game you enjoyed at a previous Gen Con? You can search the 2005, 2006, and 2007 databases.

(2008-04-09 addition): The site automatically downloads data from the official site once per day at noon, Pacific time. You can check how fresh the data is by checking the line at the very bottom which is the date Gen Con last packaged the data, as best my site can tell.

(2008-04-22 addition): There is further data scrubbing in place.  More importantly, the links to the official site now work; they were linking to the 2007 events, which was interesting, but not terribly helpful. (later same day addition): Thanks to Gino Generelli for catching the busted links.

I saved it to the fav's as soon as I saw it.

Quote from Dragons of the Dwarven Depths, p259 ... Tas and Tanis talking after Tas says a prayer for the massacred Gully Dwarves.
"It was good of you to think of that," said Tanis. "None of the rest of us did."
"You're busy thinking big things," said Tas. "I keep track of the small stuff."

Thank you once again, Alan.  Like marimacc, this is the exact source I use for all my event scheduling.  Great setup, user friendly and very easy to use.

Woot! I can actually try to plan my events now instead of searching back and forth across days to find everything.

    Absolutely fantastic job!

Thank you for all your work!  Now all we need to do is get Gen Con to pay you a stipend for the effort, or at least give you a badge discount!
