Ok, so after a few years of bitching.. I gave "Star Wars" another chance.

I seen the origional in a drive inn theater .. oh im sorry i mean... "a new hope - episode 4" <--sarcassim...

I was in love with Star Wars "and miss Carrie Fisher" from the first time I seen it.

Then Empire and Return.. (scifi geeks dream movies and good stuff it was)

....years and years passed then came what i call the "lucus crack smoking era"..

I still stand by my first statement of the "Jar Jar binks movie"... gave me migranes and put me to sleep 3 times... was and still is a horrid movie imo...

I tried a few years back to see the new part 2 and 3... but could not keep my eyes from closing many many many times.... the whole emo whining of the young darth vader, over what i consider to be a wholely overrated princess amadalla.... "sorry guys, she does nothing for me at all..." on a 10 fer scale, i would give her a 6 fer trying to dress semi japanese... but over all i found her almost as emo as whinny boy...

So time passed and spike this weekend ran the whole series thing events and this one was Star Wars... well the first one still gave me a migrane.. jar jar is just fuggin annoying.. and I said to myself.. there is no way im watching the other two...

Well.. I dont really watch all too much tv as it is.. but I was in a mood to vege and low and behold.. not a thing was on that was not a repeat, crap or something i had seen over and over again. So....... i poped on spike and was 5 min into part 2 and said screw it , I hyped up my mind on caffine and snack treats and went to stay awake to watch it...

This time I managed threw all the emo crying of the young vader... to stay awake.

I wont say it was a hugely awesome experience but seeing it all the way threw gave me a little hope 3 would not suck so much as i thought.

btw... i give episode 2 a 6.5 of 10 ..  still not a fan but the yoda scenes and the fight cgi was pretty sweet

so.. sunday.. i did the same thing and caught 3... still think young vader was a pansy... "dark lord of the sithies is more like it..." but overall the storyline came close to the star wars i know and the cgi was pretty good...

i give episode 3 a 7.5 of 10 on my scifi scale.. i still think lucus is on crack cocaine.. and though i wont be watching them again, it was not as mind numbing an experience as i once thought it would be.

PS... who gave the jedi WoW epic mounts ... lol

so.. for my Star Wars fans whom have debated me years now... I have finally seen the whole series and will not be "as harsh" on them as I once was.. but nothing beats "Carrie Fisher - dressed in gold slave atire..."

..oh and may the force be with you...

    Hmm

I agree that Carrie Fisher was smok'en hot in those films, but you gave them to high a rating. I mean come on 6.5, 7!!! Episodes two and three together only rate a five. I'm not just saying that as a fan either, there are to many inconsistancies, and out right errors for the cgi to make up for!! I lke you said all of the whinning and Jar Jar crop gets old after about five minutes. They were defintly made under the influence of some!thing

Actually, I like JarJar now, thanks to a webcomic called 'Darths & Droids'. They have JarJar played by a little girl tagging along to her brothers D&D session--good stuff. Better than the movies, really, kind of.

But I watched the Lord of the Rings series this weekend, and *triumphant fistpump* my kids, who had previously stubbornly refused to watch or go to the movies for them, watched all three with me AND LIKED THEM.

I know I'm different, and maybe annoying in this way (and others), but I LIKED Jar Jar Binks. He was the Costello in the movies. I didn't think the movies were all that fantastic, but a bit of levitiy thrown in certainy couldn't hurt. Of course, I liked the Ewoks as well, and my kids used to love the Ewoks cartoons.

I watched these this weekend also, again, and still want to bang my head against the wall for the Phantom Menace. I somewhat liked the other two films.

Just give me the original trilogy and I'll be a happy camper.

If you can read this you are to close so back off.

C-3PO was the Abbott to R2's Costello.  Jar is closer to that annoying little nephew that follows you around at the park.  I know.  I was the nephew.

Episodes 1-3 sucked rocks. Phantom Menace was one of the worst possible jokes on Star Wars fans. Hayden Christian couldn't act if his life depended on it. His acting skill did improve 100% between the second and third episodes though, what with that second facial expression.

Give me 4-6 any day of the week. Good characters, decent acting, and fun over-the-top action.

I was thinking Jar Jar was more like Scrappy Doo in the Scooby Doo series. Wink

I think I liked 2 & 3 better just because the CGI effects were so insane.

But I agree, the original trilogy was far superior even though it was made 30 years earlier and didn't have all the CGI

Call me crazy but I liked the Clone Wars cartoons much more than I liked episodes 1-3.

I would rather eat broken glass than willingly watch Jar-Jar Binks. But there are two forms he worls well in:

-The Tony Millionaire story in the Star Wars anthology comic

-The Star Wars Robot Chicken where he haunts Vader.

I'm just going to put this out there, I actually liked TPM. Now you are probably asking why would anyone like that movie? Simple, politics. I've always been a fan of them. I watch the news stations now cause it's full of it. And TPM set's everything up, you can see how the galaxy is about to fall and how they all played right into Sidious' hand.

Re: Ok, so after a few years of bitching.. I gave "Star Wars" another chance.

My order of preference for the Star Wars films starts with Empire, then New Hope, then Revenge of the Sith, then Return of the Jedi, followed by Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

Of the films, the only really bad one of the bunch is Attack of the Clones. I know, I didn't like Jar Jar or young Anakin, but Phantom Menace still told a good story. I think Revenge of the Sith tops Return of the Jedi because it displays just how completely Anakin fell to the dark side. The film also used colors, shading and effects well to display what was going on with the characters. In particular, I liked the scene in which Anakin and Obi Wan grapple, and lava shoots up behind them. Also, I liked the scene in which a black-knighted Anakin was set afire, showing how his anger and lust for power had consumed him.

    Just my thoughts.

I have to agree, I really liked the TPM.

I personally think it is far better than ATotC, that one has to be my least favorite Star War movie.  My order goes as follows

Empire, ROTS, ANH, ROJ, TPM, AotC.

I think you hit the nail on the head, Chronek. And for those of you who want an interesting editing lesson? Watch The Matrix Revolutions (heh, then clean your eyeballs), then watch any one of the star wars prequels. It's like a masterclass on the difference good editing makes, and how it cnd make a potentially mediocre film bearable, or completely terrible.
