    RPGA Events?

    Locked Reply Contact

I went over to the WOTC site, and attempted to discern what events the RPGA would be hosting at GenCon this year, but the forums seem full of 4E discussions, and following the GenCon links there brought up 2007.

Anyone from RPGA here know what's in the works? Inquiring and planning minds, want to know!

Can't say much more than the usual:

As always, is something isn't showing up in the event charts, than it either:

    • Hasn't been reviewed and placed yet

      or

    • Hasn't been submitted.

If you don't see what you're looking for, I strongly encourage you to contact the gaming group/publisher to inquire about the game. They'll be able to let you know if they just got it in late or if they haven't submitted it yet - and if it's the latter, than it always helps to let a company know that their fans are anticipating their games at the show.

Is it going to be the last hurrah for Xendrik this year? Is Living Forgotten Realms debuting at the show, I wonder?

Yes. I know all the events aren't posted yet. I did read that. Which is why I went looking at WOTC and also, through them, to the RPGA. I came up empty, and if I asked on their forums, I wouldn't get the answer since I don't read them anywhere near remotely regularly. So I asked if anyone RPGA here, or who does read their boards, may have heard of any events.

I seem to remember some RPGA folks around here last year. I was not asking Derek. (Unless he's RPGA, and I don't think he is). So quoting Derek's post isn't helping me. I'm not being snarky, just. I really did read his posts. Honest.

(Not a representative of the RPGA or anything like that) At D&D experience, it was said that their new living campaign, Living Forgotten Realms would start. The finale for Living Greyhawk is at Origins (and I think Xen'drik), so I doubt there will be LG/Xen'drik. Their relation with Kalamar ended in March, so they won't be there for sure.

I looked over the RPGA boards and did find a post that RPGA events should show up at Gen Con, but nothing with a list.

Meh. I hope they're ready by the 20th......I was planning on basing a lot of my schedule around that.

Indeed. I'm getting back into RPGA for 4E, and I'd like to do the "exclusive" Gen Con mods.

Kalamar may actually be at GenCon, just not under the RPGA banner.  It's been absorbed into Kenzer&Co's organized play unit, the HackMaster Association (HMA).  The campaign is now Legends of Kalamar.

I think I had heard somewhere that the LG finale would be re-running at GenCon, but that could have just been a rumor, or I may be misremembering.

Living Forgotten Realms will definitely be debuting at GenCon, but I haven't heard any announcements on how many adventures there will be, from what regions, or what sort of specials there will be.

I dropped the D&D Campaigns a long time ago, so I have no idea what's going on with Xendrick Expeditions.

As far as I know, they've made no official announcement. Your best chance to get any details would probably be to email the RPGA directly.

A quick look at the RPGA wiki reveals that XE and LG are wrapping at Origins, so it's going to be all about LFR at GenCon, which is where it's apparently debuting. I hope they keep something like the XE factions for LFR, though.

Okay, so, after wading through Gleemax, RPGA /is/ going to be at GenCon, with Living Forgotten Realms. One of the authors of one of the adventures says his events are all at RPGA HQ, so either RPGA HQ hasn't gotten them to GC yet, or they were submitted in one of the last tiers.

Incidentally, I couldn't find a search feature on their forums, and ours seem much more user friendly, BUT I may have to spend some time there, since there does seem to be oodles of information about 4E, which I'm still deciding on, and LFR.

There's also an LFR Yahoo group with a lot of the same information (since people from the forums post it on the group).  If that's more your style, you can sign up at the "LivingFR" group over there.

I saw on the WOTC site that the D&D Open will now be called the D&D Championship Series.  this is due in part I believe to all of those prequalifier events going on throughout the country.  they will be exempt from the 1st round.  It seems awefully odd that they are not posted by now but with all of the changes for this event that may be why they are still not posted.  Also, Kalamar is in under the Kenzer & Co banner this year IIRC seeing that on the existing event spreadsheet.

Annnnd RPGA events still aren't up, 6 days before registration. Not too happy, since I wanted to schedule to maximize RPGA play (Not GenCon's fault, I know).

Well, RPGA claims on their forums that they've submitted the events, blurbs, etc. to GenCon, so it seems it is GenCon LLC's hands.  Come on, guys, some of us would like more than half an hour lead time to plan our schedules.  My group needs to coordinate schedule development among 7 ppl spread across 3 states.  Herding cats is easier.   Please get the event catalog up, with the RPGA stuff in it.

None of the "Living" Campaigns seem to be here. Blackmoor is definitely not here either. If this continues past tomorrow, I will not be attending Gencon. I got absolutely no LG events last year. This year looks even worse. After tomo, I won't have computer access to GET an event listing!

I do hope they get them listed and quickly, so that we can all make plans. I know it's not what everyone comes to Gen Con for, but it is what a lot of folks come for, and it's pretty important that we get in what we can, when we can. I guess it's a bit different this year with so many new campaigns startint, but one would think that would mean they'd be especially on the ball about them.

     Here's to hoping.
