Put on your hard hat and join us Wednesday, August 13, 2008, from 6 to 8 pm, as we celebrate the start of GenCon. Doors open at 5. Special swag bags will be available for the first 100 attendees. It looks like they are saying arrive at 5:00PM to be one of the first 100 for special swag, and that the party in general will begin officially at 6:00PM. Is this the time you were reffering to, Kat? Sorry if I misread.

That is correct Hawkwinter.   Doors open at 5... The official festivities begin at 6 and go till 8.

 

OK, just to make certain that I'm on the correct page here, we will no longer submit our names via the forum with our +1, but we will register just like every other event through the events registration process?

Thats the way it was communicated to me.  We will be a free ticketed event through the registration system.  Though there may be a waiting list posted on here when the event fills... as it has been done in the past.

Interesting, as it won't really be forum exclusive then (not that the forum is that exclusive!).

 

Maybe next time, it should have an odd title and category so no one but the forum folks can find it to register! 

Hopefully it will be plain in the event description thaht this is the Forum Member get together and awards.  But yes... gencon did want it want it ticketed this year.  I doubt we will see too much of a change form the usual make up of attendees.

 

Of course, who but forumites would know what the Stink is, anyway? I guess somebody could decide to sign up out of curiosity about the name of the event, but IMHO, it's not that easy to find events in that events book.  Plus, it is always on Wednesday night, before Gen Con officially starts (at least in the past!). 

So no forum pic buttons either, then. And it isn't the first 100 to sign up, but first 100 to arrive?

You are correct, the swag bags will go to the first 100 people to arrive, not the first 100 to sign up.  We decided that, since the Stink is being ticketed through the Gen Con event registration system this year, that would be the best way to go.  Now, as Mr Shiny said, anyone can register for the Stink (even non-forumites), but we really would like for forumites to have the best shot at the swag bags.  That's why we've announced that the doors open at 5pm in this thread.  In a sense, this is "insider information" for forum members.  But, you're right, there won't be special avatar buttons.  However, we'll still be making some general Stink 5 buttons to commemorate the event.

As soon as we get an Event ID, we'll be sure to get it posted for y'all.

Hawk- I was wanting to know the time to sign up but now I see it will be to register trough the events..hmm..I'll be out of town this weekend so not sure i'll get it.

What is the event limit, do we know?

I believe the last numbers I heard was 400 tickets were going to be availble. So I think every forumite who wants to go should be able to get one.
