    Re: Sunday needs help

I agree Sunday needs help, but with everone leaving and things wrapping up it would have to be a pretty damn good event to keep folks interested.

Well, my crew will mostly still be in town, and with two rooms (2 Different hotels), and 3 GMs between us, we plan on running enough games, and with enough space to acomodate 10-15 people besides ourselves.

    Braelun:

The last few years, I've been in town for almost the entire week.  I do stay until the Hall closes but then I'm on the road back home.  I need to unwind before work on Monday, even though this year, I'll just go in late.

I don't really have a problem gaming on Sunday.  I just haven't seen any that I wanted to play in or else they were already full.  Last year I really wanted to get into the 8a Sunday A Game of Thrones RPG but it sold out within the first few minutes of registration.  And I wonder if anyone actually showed heh.

I had signed up for a game on Sunday, too, and was really looking forward to it, but the GM cancelled it. Got my money back for the game but obviously not for the parking.

Myself and a friend will be around on Sunday night!! If anything is going down, let us know and count us in. We walked around the convention hall like kicked puppies after 5pm last year. It was so sad. We had to say goodbye to the life-sized beholder with all of Sunday night still before us. :(

(as T-Rex) "I think we should call it...your grave!"

(Stegosaurus) "Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!"

(T-Rex) "Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh...now die!"

I tend to think it could be an off-the-cuff game of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and most gamers would be fine with it since most of them are too burned out from the more 'serious' games at that point. Even without scheduled events, Sunday would probably be more of a social gaming anyway.

Quote from Dragons of the Dwarven Depths, p259 ... Tas and Tanis talking after Tas says a prayer for the massacred Gully Dwarves.
"It was good of you to think of that," said Tanis. "None of the rest of us did."
"You're busy thinking big things," said Tas. "I keep track of the small stuff."

For the con ending at 4pm this year works out great, because that even I'll be going to WWE's Summerslam down at the Conseco Field House. Those few hours between the two will be a nice time to relax before I head to Summerslam.

Was planning to stay all day Sun and game, but the daughter has college orientation on Sun, so we will have to head out early.  I did like being there last year at the end of the con and stumbling onto the free extra swag bags giveaway!

I'll be posting details of the game(s) that I and/or my friends Judd and Ben will run. We will have board/card games ready, and HARP and paizo/D&D3.whatever, as well as (Maybe) Warhammer RPG. Also, Warmachine and Confrontation are possiblities, since Ben and I are bringing our stuff to play in the tourneys. I'll be damned if I am going to let Gencon stop at 4-5PM. Bah, I say!!!

I agree, when I went through the listings and was picking games, I could only fit 1 game in on Sunday. We need to expand this to an all-day event as well. Maybe next year gaming groups can take it over as well.

The Peryton's usually have a game scheduled on Sunday.. this years has sold out already! As was mentioned this is usually a travel day for most of us so we don't schedule much. We need at least one full day at home to recover from the GenCon festivities (monday)before going back to work on Tuesday!

Does everyone have to clear out, or can there still be open gaming in the con? If nothing else, maybe we can find some pick up games afterwards, as long as I don't have to head out of town again like last year.

It's my understanding that the ICC will close. I assume the hotels will have as much open space as you'd normally expect on a Sunday. (For whatever my assumptions are worth). Wink

Right; there's nothing official after 5pm; all events must end by that time, and in fact you have to have your tickets turned in to GMHQ by then.  And you have to be out of the convention center.

Now, if you've found a quiet space in a hotel lobby or summat to hold an unofficial event Sunday night, and they don't kick you out, well, that's your business.  But Gen Con officially closes at 5pm.

Unless we had an event planned, or after said event, Dalek and I have tended to wander the dealer's hall one last time, look at each other, loudly proclaim "We are tired, our feet hurt, and we've spent all our money.  Thank you GenCon.  Goodnight!"

    Well, it's meaningful to us....

I typically do the same thing.  I walk the hall once or twice looking for bargains and to play last minute demos.

I'm planning on being around Sunday night.  If anyone is going to game I'd be up for it.

Or even if people just want to hang out, grab a beer, whatever.

GenCon can't get here fast enough.

Sundays always got that wicked sting to it, knowing that all the build up and hype is over and your about to depart for another 12 months (or in last years case 24 months as Im not making it this year) I just cant get motivated to actually game with the end in sight. Ridiculous really ruining one of the final days of the Con but it happens regardlessTongue Tied

I have to say join the "worn out by Sundy a.m. crowd, Iam afraid .  Both years we have been there, come Sunday morning, even getting out of bed to go to the Dealer's Hall had lost it's magical pull and the drive to keep going and going like the Energizer bunny...is well, gone. Confused  Considering the new addition to my itinerary, the All Night Party on Saturday night, hubby may need a luggage cart to get me to the van on Sunday so he can drive us all home. ROFL

I still have plenty of energy on Sundays, but knowing that the con is a heartbeat away from ending for the year kinda saps the momentum.

    Re: Sunday needs help

Last year we arrived on Wed. and left on Monday - something about a 10 hour drive that kept us there an extra day.  We had such a good time last year, that the pleas have been quietted by us arriving on Monday and starting gaming on Tuesday night - again leaving on Monday.

Last year on Sunday our group all met at the Ram after the hall closed and we talked about all of the things we saw, what we did and what we'd do different next year.  The funny side of that gathering came when we were ordering food - The Ram was really close to being out of everything - in fact a cheer from the staff went up when (I'm guessing Dave) announced that they had survived another GenCon and that they were closing early as they were also out of food.

After this we went back to the hotel room - packed, kicked up our feet and started wishing that the Con was just getting ready to begin.....Wink
