I must admit, I haven't been allowed to pay for them yet, but I got them added to my cart. *whew*

    Good luck to everyone else!

Yeah, that's the important step - if I can at least get some things into the cart, I'll come back later to pay after the rush. Getting thereis the tough part, though.

I got all my events on the first try, and there were about 10 of them. I think I just got really, really lucky.

Quote from Dragons of the Dwarven Depths, p259 ... Tas and Tanis talking after Tas says a prayer for the massacred Gully Dwarves.
"It was good of you to think of that," said Tanis. "None of the rest of us did."
"You're busy thinking big things," said Tas. "I keep track of the small stuff."

Nah, you're not doing anything wrong. The servers are just getting overloaded.

I managed to get one page of events in. Still don't know if it was successful as I'm still waiting for my Shopping Cart to pull up (five minutes and counting now). Don't know if the second set of requests went in as now I'm getting "Internet Explorer cannot display the page."

I need that crying emoticon right now <g>

I've been staring at the damn GenCon logo pic at the top of the page for 15 min now, waiing to see if anything was actually added to my cart. I'm going to guess no.

I hate this. Why the heck does GenCon screw us EVERY year???

Re: Event Registration (Regular Events) Success

I think a lot of the problems (at least those being posted on the forum) could be solved if people were already logged in and had their events entered in the tabs way before the event reg. went live. They wouldn't have to waist time loading their account and then loading the event sign up page. Obviously there are still problems besides that, but that may have solved alot of them.

I've done this for the past few years, and had minimal problems and generally gotten what I wanted.

Yes, normally that works for me. Worked this morning for True Dungeon - but now... nothing. No success at all. Not a solitary successful page load. Major bad luck.

    <lolcat>Registration:  UR DOIN IT WRONG</lolcat>

Okay, so most of my stuff is in my cart.  Just missed out one one event... which happens to be the one I wanted the most.  I'll try again later, as things often drop.

    Still.  :P

Yeah. Being already logged in and with the codes typed allowed me to register me and SO for all of our key events (including the hard to get Novo Ordo Seclorum tournament). Now it's just a question of getting some other people with us for a couple of the events.

Re: Event Registration (Regular Events) Success

I finally got my cart to open, just to confirm all my events are in there... 10 for 10.

Now I think I'm going to wait a couple hours before I try to pay for them.

Actually, I was logged in, had the events entered, and then hit "submit" at 4:00:01 (based on GenCon's count-down clock), and, well, the tabs crashed, I haven't gotten back to the registration page yet (much less had a chance to re-enter the 15 event numbers).

I agree, it is far better to be prepared - however, it is not a panacea.

Welcome to the event lottery. :(

You say your tabs 'crashed'? Did your browser/window/tab actually close? I've had hanging windows and various errors but nothing that would stop me from hitting back and trying again. (FWIW, I'm using Opera 9.26 on Windows.)

No, the tabs/window didn't actually close, but hitting the back button didn't do me any good, so I figure "crashed" is as good of a way to describe it as any.  Using Internet Explorer 7.0 (please don't laugh at me).

Generally, speaking, I'll be content with pot luck - "the lottery" aspect doesn't particular bother me, although sitting at the computer waiting for something to go right isn't a whole lot of fun.  I'm going to Origins this year, so anything I don't get here I can try to get there - but I hope I can at least end up with the SPA events for my wife.

yeah, i'm pretty sure 99.99% of us that attempt registering on opening minute do that...

grats to all of you that have sucessfully registered, but please - do the rest of us a favor and don't gloat! Indifferent
