Does this include the people going to the STINK? Please fellas, do NOT shower. Feel free to skip days, it's A-OK! Enjoy the STINK! It's funny and self-deprecating! You can be "that guy." It's all good. Since it's prevelant enough to be the name of a gathering it must be cool, right?

Also, it helps my sexy, cologned (I don't care if it isn't a word!) self that much more with the precious few single (or married, what happens at Gencon stays at Gencon after all) gamer women there. Devil

You know what, I bet the few single gamer females would rather have a guy that REALY smells bad than one like you that does not care if the person he is persuing is available or not. Your not makeing friends fast I am thinking with those types of remarks.

I worship the very ground you walk upon Mystykal, but this brings to mind a quote by Dr Seuss I'm sure we've all heard at one time or another: "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." I don't mind you, and I'm sure you don't mind me. Smile

EDIT: No, Dr Seuss is not giving free reign to be smelly at Gencon.

And old Gross Anatomy Lab trick just smear a dab of vick vaporub in your nose. It will mask the smell of about near anything. Also those peppermint breath drop are great multi taskers. One they will freshen your breath and they will wake you up if you get sleepy. Its an old trucker trick. I use both and have surived the funk of 20,000 gamers.

Maybe if we could get dice shaped soap and deoderant! All gamers like dice so maybe they would be more abt to use it or ''play'' with it if it was something they liked. It also wouldn't seem like they were leaving a game then.

It's like digging through the cereal box when you were a kid for the secret decoder ring or plastic whistle.

"You're busy thinking big things," said Tas. "I keep track of the small stuff."

Re: The most important thing to do during the convention..

Over the years, I have played in and run a number of games. I have also attended several conventions. The first time I ever experienced gamer funk, was my first year at Origins. Bright-eyed, innocent and care-free, I walked into the Magic room to see what was going on. Within the time it took to take a breathe, my eyes teared up, my breathe caught in my throat, and I was glancing around through my tears looking for a rotten corpse someone had stashed under a table. Since then, I have had to deal with many cases of gamer funk.

The worst case has to be a local who used to game both in mechwarrior and D&D with us. He personal hygiene was so bad, it made people physically sick. It does not help that he is also mentally unstable (not handicapped, just f&*%in nuts!) and looks like an escapee from a mental institution. I had many people complain about his smell, his attitude and eventually his swearing. I even had him threatening to "put a curse" on other players. We finally banned him not only from Mechwarrior, but also D&D after a stabbing incident with a pencil.

But anyway, back to gaming funk. I too have no problem mentioning to someone they have a problem. They may not even notice. To themselves, they may smell perfectly normal. I found a wonderful invention a couple years ago. It is a small battery powered air freshener that sprayed out with a fan. It was very effective at negating the smell of our nutjob.

And if anyone feels I am picking on this man, please IM me and I will send you links to his youtube broadcasts. They guy is MENTAL!! Just ask Wavester.

Interesting, Jason. Sounds like a story from the "Creepiest Gamer You've Ever Played With" thread over on RPG.NET

It's all fun and games until the stabbing begins.

There are the random, friendly and innocuous examples that help support stereotypes (after a marathon session, none of us are as fresh as we would like).  Then there are the ones that are a bad example of humanity.

    No soap for you!

Someone here on the forums did this idea, Marimacc? maybe I don't remember! But instead of making the soap into shapes of dice, I believe they put actual dice in the middle of the soap. Very cool idea and im sorry I missed out, because I believe they said it was a lot of work that they would not be able to do again.Sad

The Most Important Thing To Do During The Convention?

Hands down, #1 most important thing you can do: stop by booth 2328 and help with the Gamers For Humanity Game Drive. Take 5 minutes out of your day to help some families and kids in need.

Reasons to help with the Game Drive:

    1) If you see a cool game produced by a small game company, and you want to help support that game company but you don't need another game...buy the game, donate it to the Game Drive. Two birds with one stone.

    2) If you win a game in a contest at the Con that you don't like or already have, you can drop it off with us and free up your valuable backpack space.

    3) If you just have too dang much money...

    4) Meet the awesome people I've been able to work with through Gamers For Humanity when you drop your game off at the booth. These are cool people!

    5) Get a swanky badge ribbon.

    6) Get the gratitude of the lovely Chainmaille Wench, who we are sharing our booth with.

    7) Prevent us from having to send hammer-wielding children after you. They're like dwarves, but more energetic.

    8) Make Peyton Manning happy.

    9) Make Ronald McDonald happy.

    10) Make a bunch of kids happy.

Check the link in my sig for more info :D

    </pimp>

Come help with the Gamers For Humanity Gen Con Game Drive!

OK, I am taking no direct responsibility for this, but I have been flooded with requests for the video of our nutjob.

    http://youtube.com/user/nativio

This is a link to one of the guys who works at our local store. The videos that contain charles are all real and not scripted. This is really the way he thinks, acts and lives his life. You are forewarned that they are not child or work friendly, due to profanity. be thankfull Youtube does not have Smell-o-vision, or you would be gagging on his BO.

As to the stabbing incident, I should point out a few things. The camera was turned on to capture the half-mast of his pants. We had no clue things would escalate. The owner was the one who was stabbed. He eventually had to have a 1/4" piece of plastic mechanical pencil removed from his head. He is fine now, and we joke about it. We all know it could have been much worse.

Once again, i take no responsibility for anyone who views these videos. Watch at your own risk.

Yeah, gaming ends when you need to call the cops or an ambulance.  Preferably before.
