    Artists' Alley open for registration

I'm getting the web site updated with more information, but I wanted to give people a heads-up that I added a ticket in the registration system for the Artists' Alley.

If you want to get a table to set up for your amateur creations, just buy a ticket and you should be all set.

I'll try to get more informaiton up as fast as I can, but I wanted to give everyone a quick update.

    Anime Alley?

Hi Derek.  Between the event description ("Are you an anime-inspired amateur artist or creator?") and the fact that this will be held in the Westin, is it correct to say that this is fundamentally for anime artists?

"If your GM has to decide between killing off the character that is just a stat sheet versus the character with a Kick-Ass custom portrait; who do you think is going to bite it?"

    Re: Anime Alley?

Yes. It's specifically for anime-inspired, amateur creators.

Here's the clip of web content that should provide a bit more info:

    Artists’ Alley

An area set aside exclusively for amateur anime artists and creators to show off their talents.  You could find just about anything anime inspired, from illustrations, to jewelry, magazines, clothing, and even toys; you never know what you’ll stumble across here. All kinds of fans will come together in this event that highlights the sense of community in the anime hobby.

The Anime Artists’Alley is a great place to share your own anime inspired creations, and see what your fellow attendees have created. This event will be located in the anime area of the convention. Please remember that the Anime Artists’ Alley is for amateur artists and creators only, so the sale of retail or mass-produced items is strictly prohibited. This area is to allow artists and creators to share their work with others, and is not an alternative to the dealer’s hall.

If you’re interested in getting your own table, you can sign up online or stop by the Anime and Film HQ desk on site to see if there are any spaces still available.

    Bump!

This is a great way for amateur anime artists to participate in Gen Con without a lot of expense. :)

I have a question.  Can I sell fanart in the artist's alley? Thanks :)

Well, you're a fan, and it's art, so you should be ok.  :)  Seriously though, I woudn't think that would be a real problem.  If there's a copyright issue and someone asks you to remove something, please do so, but I don't think it's a big deal.

Thanks. I've just heard that fanart usually sells better than original pieces.  I'm not even sure if I am even going to draw any fanart though, I prefer drawing original characters :)
