Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

This is has been resolved.  Despite choosing ship to me, Gencon has seen fit to place my badge in will call.   Even if Gencon Customer Service calls/emails you back, don't expect any actual help or customer service as they are unwilling to do anything for you at all.

My promise: I will enjoy Gencon, despite the people who run it and the poor customer service they provide.

It's a good thing you are perfect--and incapable of mistakes lol. Confused

Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

Never said I was perfect.  I make mistakes.  Everyone does.  I prefer to judge on how someone owns those mistakes and takes the steps to correct them.
I take ownership and work to resolve my mistakes, even if it means I have to do what I'm uncomfortable with or what may not be optimal or convenient for me.

By this measure, Gencon has failed in every sense of the word.

But it's done and over with I suppose at this point.  I'll satisfy myself with writing a letter of complaint to their office and the BBB.

My promise: I will enjoy Gencon, despite the people who run it and the poor customer service they provide.

Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

I want to give thanks to Aleta for all that she puts up with each year. I honestly have some issues with our badges and tickets, but I really don't want to bother her. I am waiting a bit to see if things show up here. And also, I'd personally rather my things go to will call if they weren't sent out by now. Imagine if she had your badges sent out the day after you called. then imagine our wonderful postal service losing them for a few days. Then imagine it being the day you are leaving for Gc and have no badge. Now what are you going to do? Instead of being patient and undestanding to the single hardest working person at GC right now, you decide to get nasty and crappy with her. She offered you a solution and all you can do is complain. Good thing you weren't around last year when it was worse. So, in conclusion, be grateful that she went ahead and put a badge at will call for you instead of saying" Well it's your fault for messing up your shipping options so deal with it."

Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

I agree with Kyaria.  The same stuff with some badges getting push to Will Call instead of shipping to me happened (my badge was hit) and the over charges on the invoices happened last year.  Stuff happens and people get it fixed.  Sould Gen Con have more people in customer service..yes, but I am guessing that they know that and what to staff but have to deal with the Chapter 11 stuff, who knows.  Everything will get fixed beleive me, last year the Gen Con staff had some big issues and got answers out to everybody.  Is it a issue that you badge is kept at will call instead of being shipped to you, sure it is but complaining will not get that badge to your house.  Stuff happens and you just take was is given to you and move on.  Aleta does a wonderful job with cusotmer service and the VIG program.Smile

The thing I find funny is how poor GenCon customer service can be, when there is only one customer!  I mean, it's not like there are 35,000 people trying to get their badges and tickets.  It's just one person, and that one person ought to be able to get through to Aleta--or heck, Peter himself--anytime day or night.  Aleta has no right to take weekends off--GenCon's ONE customer is waiting for a response and it better be soon!!!

    Hmm

For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood and every spring there is a different green.

That's really funny that you guys think Aleta has weekends off.  She, like most of the Gen Con staff, has been, and will continue to, work through weekends up until the show.

I've really got to quit the sarcasm if even Marimacc isn't getting it...  Sigh...

No worries Mossi but at first I was like...who in the h*** does this person think that are.  I also must work on my sarcasm radar.  In Marimacc's defense, there are people that would say that and have said things like that already.  A certain VIG person comes to mind...but I can't say anything on this thread but I think Marrimacc knows who I am talking about.  Smile

Also here is to all the everybody just relaxing and leaving Gen Con and Aleta only so they can continue to do the great job that they always have.

No I got your sarcasm Mossi, and it was much appreciated, I was just pointing out that I'm sure some people don't realize that Aleta actually IS working every weekend.

Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

We're still waiting on tickets and badges, but I'm not abot to call her until the 1st. That way she has some time to deal with the impatient people. I figure if all else fails I'll bring my receipts and show them at cust serv onsite.

Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

We finally got ours on Monday. Course, that's the fault of UPS not GenCon - they were sent out 2 weeks before that. Missing one badge though, so I sent an email to the customer service addy. Guess if I don't hear anything by Monday I'll mail her directly. I'm confident this will be resolved, I just hope I don't have to pay another $9 shipping for UPS or deal with the onsite pickup (our time there is already pretty limited)!

Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

     First post...

Ok, so i got my tickets about two weeks ago in the mail.  Like the OP, my badge was not in with my tickets.  I checked the website and it has my stuff listed as "ship to" with my current address.  I've left 2 messages with Aleta's voicemail, and I tried to call twice today but just got a busy signal.  No answering machine.  I've emailed the customer service email twice and her person gencon address once.  There is no way I'm paying twice for another badge.  I understand she's the only one and she's swamped, but I'm getting a little upset at this point.  I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and keep sending emails and phone calls....

I checked the website and it has my stuff listed as "ship to" with my current address.

Are you checking the profile, or the actual transaction ID? They may not necessarily be the same. PLEASE PLEASE go into your account, click on the view your purchases line (NOT the profile), and click the transaction ID listed for your badge. It may say 'willcall' while your tickets say 'shipto'. (They will be under a different transaction ID).

If it's ship to, then continue trying to contact customer service.

I personally bet Aleta is heartily wishing this wasn't happening.

Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

i wish it wasn't happening either! I got a response from her so hopefully it will be sent out shortly.  I'll keep the thread posting on my progress.

P.S. The transaction ID that contained my badge contained event tickets, which I received in the mail.  I checked my purchases online and it does show "ship to".

Re: Got Gencon packet...except no badge

Heard back from Aleta last night at around 10 pm (seriously I do NOT expect her to be taking care of this stuff all night!! There's still time before GenCon hits!). Seems my DH's badge was in the "badges without homes" pile. It'll be sent out directly and I'm glad to know there's one less homeless badge in the world!
