Well, I can virtually guarantee you'll be first in line.  You'll also get to watch the VIG's stroll in an hour before you do, and they slept until 9:00 a.m.

There are a lot of people who highly value getting into the exhibit hall as soon as possible, and you are obviously one of them.

Myself, I get into the exhibit hall if I have the time.  I just don't get into hitting the dealers' booths as much as other people do.

    Best of luck, though!Big Smile

Its mob mentality so getting there early doesn't mean much, as long as you are there when the group starts at 9 or so you'll be one of the first in.

It really doesn't mean much to get in line early :) Sleep in ;)

I do not wait in line, hell one of the big items last year was the so called LIMITED swarm of the marrows for hero scape. I did not pick on up at the full retail they were asking, I got one after Xmas at a wall mart clearance for 15$   LOL

There's 'early' and then there's 'earily'

Ok, I'll bite: there a particular reason for this, or just bragging rights?  'cuz you realize someone out there will now try to show up at 4:58 just to 'beat you.'

For me, I usually am just heading over about 10 and enter the halls after the masses have. Not big on the waiting in line and stuff. It just gets so crowded plus getting up early. I've never been one good for that.

Seriously?? The hall doesn't even open until like 10..It's not like getting the first ticket for Star Wars midnight showing or anything. with the dealer's you are pretty much guaranteed getting in, with a movie they could sell out...I really don't understand why you would want to sit outside of the hall for 5 hours is. You are going to need your sleep for the rest of the con.

Me? I will get there when I get there. I will take a leisurely breakfast, I don't want to fight the masses just to get in the door. I'll stroll in after 10 sometime

I personally will be too busy playing games to try and get there first.  I might stop by between games if there's enough time. But for me, GC is all about the gaming.

I do understand the eagerness to be in the first mass of people per se, because of all the cool limited SWAG.  However, there is NO need whatsoever to be there 5 hours early!

We are not talking about Black Friday here lol.  Now THAT, I have been first in line for.  Usually, at the front doors of Shopko, Target, etc. by 3 a.m.,  for a 7 a.m. opening. Embarrassed

Now you're speaking my language! Black Friday is a true EVENT in my household - not just a simple day of shopping, but a highly organized journey into the masses of crazy shoppers. Everyone has their lists and their duties - due to this, we normally get out of the stores much quicker than others, and are able to get to another store for even more deals!

But back on topic, I am just happy that I get to be one of the lucky few in the special hour on Thursday. If not, I would probably be a bit anxious myself about when to go in that morning. Now though, I'll probably be over to the center by 8:30 or so, as if I waited, I wouldn't be wide awake enough to really take things in at 9:00. I need the extra half-an-hour to finalize my plan of attack. Stick out tongue

Usually, I just show up about 15 minutes before opening, and I'm still in the hall like 2 minutes after it opens... its not a big deal about waiting for me, since as long as I pick one main thing I want to get right when it opens, I'm usually there in time.

This year however, I get to enjoy that extra hour and no waiting every day if I want to, as I have a couple panels in the art show, and well, artists and exhibitors get in at 9:00 Wink

Speaking of cool limited SWAG, where can we find out about those promotional items offered to those nutty early people (or the rude, pushy people) who get to the dealer booths first?  A couple Gencons ago, I had some idea of promotional offers within the three week countdown (e.g. the Order of the Stick refrigerator magnets), but this year I haven't heard anything.

I made a list of what prmotional items I could find in an earlier thread, but it took a lot of Google Fu-ing to do so.

THAT'S how hidden the good SWAG is.

    D'oh.  This happened before- the thread was in the VIG Forum, so most people couldn't see it.  Let me re-do it.  Hold please.  {muzack}

    SWAG tease delivers

OK, just gonna post it here:

Found a company that is selling 100 boxes of a WW2 game called Frontline.  Then there's 1,00 Hero Forge T-shirts.  And if you do 5 events, you can get a limited Monsterpocalypse model.
