    Costumes from Comic Con

    Hey:

I thought those of you who are into costuming might enjoy seeing what ComicCon attendees dressed up as.

Geh. I wanted to go but it most definately was not in the cards this year. (Or next year, and the year after...) This month's issue of Shojo Beat has a few good shots of ComicCon. Mainly anime characters.

I saw those earlier, these costumes are very well done!

Why does Comic-Con have so much media attention?

Probably because every SFi related TV show and movie role out their talent their and preview their product for the NExt Calendar Year.

And it is in a major city. Indy isn't that big and probably the largest events in indy are the races like the Brickyard. A good way to tell people about it is e-mail magazines about it. (Try Shojo Beat. They might be there. Least wise I hope so.)

Some of those costumes were pretty impressive. I can't wait to see what the folks at Gen Con can come up with this year!

It's not so much the city that they're in.  If it were, Gencon SoCal would have done better than it did.  It's more the fact that the comic book industry is just much bigger, wealthier, and more mainstream than the gaming industry

People go to Comic-con for comics? Neat! Wink

My friends and I go more for the film aspects (panels, previews, etc) and costumes, and just to hang out in San Diego, which is a cool city. I doubt most people are there primarily for comics, as it's become a much larger pop culture fest. And a pretty good one, too. Just can't get a good gaming fix there, though.

Actually, Indy is one of the country's prime convention cities.   Somehow other gatherings like political party conventions and the Superbowl net some media attention.  ;-)  But ComicCon has been adopted by the film industry as a marketing venue; that helps a lot!
