Re: Anime at the 2009 Con

Anime events almost never fill up (other than Hentai Dubbing) and they're almost always free as well, so you don't technically need tickets, like you do for actual games.

The schedule is more informative than it is controlling attendance, if you know what I mean.

Re: Anime at the 2009 Con

    Hi all,

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents.  Some anime that would be fun to see ant Gen Con would be.

Baccano!, Black Lagoon Second Barrage, Claymore, Eureka Seven, Fate Stay Night, Ghost Hound, Anything related to Ghost in the Shell, Gunlsinger Girl, Gungrave, Heroic Age, Le Chevalier D'Eon, Morobito, Noein, Noir, Read or Die, Gurren Lagann, Welcome to the NHK and The Third.  I know its a long list but once I get started its hard to stop.  I also wanted to cover a large range of genres.  I know that many if not all have US releases and most are Funimation.

    Ooops forgot to include....HARUHI !! :)

Last year Berserk and Black Lagoon Seaon 1 were cool to see.   See you at the Westin!

I enjoyed discussing music with Vic at ACEN this year.  I thought he was entertaining, and the events he is in at Gencon should be popular.

Derek, thanks for all the hard work in getting this set up!  That's a great lineup of anime and kudos on getting Vic M!!!!

Between my gaming events and this anime lineup I can't wait for August.  ....now where did I put that time machine....

There's a lot of opportuninties to introduce non-anime friends to anime here.  Hopefully folks can take advantage of that and get your friends hooked!

I'm glad I could help Smile Vic is someone I've been trying to get for a few years now, but something kept coming up.

It finally came together this year, though, and I'm looking at it as something of an experiment. Depending on how it goes, we may do more guests in the future.

You definately have my vote for more anime guests in the furture (A few from Japan would be awesome, I can dream for future cons right?).  I think Vic will be very popular and I look foward to meeting him.  This really helps with the lack of media guests for the con this year.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. - Attributed to Alexander Fraser Tytler, Elements of General History

Re: Anime at the 2009 Con

Gen Con 07 Funmation was there and I was amazed with the amount of anime around. My daughters, like most teens, was big anime fans so I thought that they would have a blast the next year when we planned on bringing the kids.

Well they had fun but it seemed to be less anime than the previous year. I hit the board this year and asked around for Vic for a guest, since thats the only name  I remeber the kids saying. Then BAM! There is was Vic will be at Gen Con. My oldest daughter almost hit the ceiling. My other daughter didnt believe it since he was suppose to appear at a convention up in Michigan in August. Once she realized he will be there it was total mayhem at the Crouch House.

I guess you're referring to the general anime area, which is on the first floor of the Westin. :)
