I'd try Carey limo service, may be much cheaper.

Take the Green Line bus for $7 each way.  That is much cheaper.

These remind me of mastercard "priceless" commercials.

    Gas:$30

    Food: $150

I know I'll be splitting the ride to the hotel with one of my peeps who will be on the same plane with me.  On the way out of town, though, I'm fine with NOT taking a bus and paying more for another form of transportation.  I'm not lugging all my crap onto a bus.  I don't even like riding the bus in DC. yuck

    Hello all,

Here's my run down (to the nearest $5):

    Flight:  $365

    Room: $370 (Tues-Mon) (Paid)

Badge & Event tix: $105 (Paid)

    Car Rental: $200 (1 wk + gas)

    Fixed costs: $1040

Variables, including food & purchases...well variable.  I'm hoping for around $550 so the total cost of the trip comes to under $1600...if not, there's MasterCard.

  • AirFare = $220
  • Taxi = $100 Taxi to an d from both side of the airport.
  • Hotel = $400 shared
  • Meals = $200
  • Buca Dinner on Wed = $70
  • Beers and Drinks = $60, I am not a big drinker during the con.
  • Sundries = $20
  • My spend should be less that $1200.  I will buy very few thing from the dealer haul.  I need a map and some mini's which should be less than $20.

As a matter of fact I can.  It's called GENCON!

As for my personal costs, I'm getting lucky this year with 3 others joining me on this trip, so some of the costs are but down:

    Hotel: $140

    Gas: $40

    Badge/Events: $200

    Food: $320

    Parking: $20

Dealer's Room: Til my credit card cries of I come to my senses.

    Total $850 +

    For one...

    • Gas: $170.00
    • Sun-Sun Hotel: $800.00 ($100 a night)
    • Parking: $25
    • Food: -
    • Dealer Hall: $175
    • Registration & Events: $124
    • Unforseen: $100
    • Grand Total = $1394

Dealer hall could be more if there's a lot of things I can't live without. Don't expect there will be though. Food and entertainment will certainly be more then I've listed but I suspect not substantially more then I wastefully spend keeping myself fed & entertained in and around NYC. So I consider that a wash.

Total: $670 ( of which $125 is paid and $200 could be eliminated)

More of an aside, but the first year Cobos and I went to GenCon, we bussed in from Chicago on a Greyhound. It was great, because it happened to be chock-full of gamers! We made some friends and had a great time on our way down. :)

No ballpark about it $1500. Anything left after paying for gas, hotel, food, tips, etc... gets spent on games. Although this year I seem to have all ready spent my money on True Dungeon tokens. Curse you E-Bay, curse you straight to Hades, you obsession fueling demon.

Marsya, your total seems to be closest to what I was expecting, for two.

$1,250 for hotels (Tues - Monday)

    $75 for parking

$600 for meals (breakfast is included in the price of the room at our hotel)

    $ 400 Events / Badges

    $150 Gas

    $500 Dealer Hall

$150 outside sightseeing (King Tut Exhibit)

Of course, we then have to pay exchange - it's been anywhere from 8% to 20% over the last few months...
