geeksdreamgirl:So glad to have faces from the GenCon forum hanging with us at +5 CHA! We're up to 157 members now and things are really buzzing! A bunch of us (including me) are doing the Couch to 5k running program and really feeling the burn! I've lost 5 pounds since GenCon (which is a real feat for me since with PCOS, losing can be excruciatingly slow). It's great having a group of like-minded folks that are on the same path to exchange stories and tips with. :-)
Hello all,
Totally cool idea! I think you'll really like the zero to 5K program. And perhaps, after your first 5K you'll be hooked! I ran my first 5K two years ago, and that's what happened to me. I ran my 2nd marathon two months ago. It gets addicting. You guys should totally participate in the Orc Stomp next year. I did the Friday run this past con, and it was nice. About 20 or so people showed up and it was a great way to see a bit of the city beyond the convention hall.
Also, a bit about running...I've always struggled with my weight, and I still do, dispite the running. HOWEVER, what I DO like is that rather than thinking I'm trying to "diet" I'm simply "training" for my next event. It's funny that it is easier to stick to a healthier lifestyle when you don't frame it as a diet in your brain.
I'm still thinking about joining the group, I just don't want to join if I'm not going to participate. Either way, I wish every member the best in their health goals!!!
