What a nice 'free' life that would be, it is getting harder and harder to hide. Mainly due to the fact that Im not firends with many gamers on facebook and my newsthread being loaded with gamer babble Its all fun though. It'll be a Geeksplosion at GenCon Im sure.

I think you'd find people more accepting than you realize. I'm not 100% nerd all the time but it's definitely part of my personality that I don't hide. People are more curious about it than anything.

I over exagerate somewhat, I dont particularly hide my gaming nor am I embarrassed about it. Its more that I avoid it and only becasue the majority of my friends are non gamers, about 95% of them. And if I mention DnD, it starts a long confusing conversation where I try and explain what Dnd is (which is very difficult without actually showing some one) and try to make it sound cool. The other person is always left still not understanding and I am still not satisfied that I have enxplained myself well. Usually they dont take me up on the offer to try a game.

I'm in the same boat Nelly. I try to explain my hobby or interests and I see the blank faces and the confusion. So I usually try to downplay it or avoid the topic. Not out of shame, but just convenience.

This is when I love what I do. I'm a software engineer at a largish software company and it's nerdvana. We're talking regular game challenges during lunch, after-work game nights, discussions on every nerdly topic at all times.

Frankly it's amazing that we get as much work done as we do. I guess it's proof that a happy environment makes for productive workers!

How about small cute Irish gilrs with no prior experience?  Im not really willing to learn  software development, however I can answer phones really well!

I can be the company mail clerk. I have experience with the mail. Darn Nelly beating me to the phone job. Of course what would you rather here on the phone. A strong deep canadian voice or a cute Irish girl accent. We loose all the time.

Well you can always take a look at the career site. We're really a financial services and data company, our software is a huge part of that but there's a lot more to the business. We've been around a while and have offices all around the US and the world, plus we've gotten great ratings as a nice place to work.

If a job looks good to someone then let me know and I might be able to put your resume into our internal recruitment system. If I do that then it's a bit more direct route to a job than sending it through the website. I know that we're constantly hiring for all sorts of positions so if you're in a related field you might want to get your resume in the system in case a need opens up.
