M.U. Skulls back at Gencon '08

That is right boys and girls, the Skulls are back to present some of the most sought after games around.  We are all busy planning our events which will include a trip another darker, simpler time, presented by Skulls Prez Frank Russell.  You can look forward to various Cthulhu settings, as well as the now traditional Friday night "Madness" game.  More details to follow...

Fantastic! I hope you make it to the game Bubba!

My plan is to post some of the Character information here first so you have a feel for what's going on. It should also sound very familiar to some...

I should also mention that the MU Skulls Call of Cthulhu games use Chaosium's BRP setting and this is NOT d20 based. I did include this in our game submission but the Gen Con staff felt it was redundant and they removed it. Probably because they are such huge fans of Call of Cthulhu they didn't know there was a different version...

So glad the Skulls are back.  I need to complete my education.  I'm still a few credits shy of driving a pencil into my ear to stop the voices.

By the way, are you planning as many events this year as last?

Re: M.U. Skulls back at Gencon '08

2007 was a record breaking year for us.  We ran 28 games.  And we almost died doing it.  Over the past year there have been some unfortunate circumstances which have caused us to take it a little easier in 2008.  That being said, we will be running 14 games this year.   The upside to it is that for the most part, aside from the Crusaders game Frank is running, each of the 14 games will be different.  In the past you would have 1 GM running 9 game sessions, but in reality, there were only 3 adventures, they were all run 3 times.  So of those 28 games last year, there were only 10 different adventures.  This year there will be 13 different adventures, including an all new expanded Madness 301.

I can give you a tiny preview of my first adventure, which takes place in Nova Scotia.  It is called Roanoke and involves some geological surveys.  It is so full of stuff that you will want to crack Jenny's teacup.  Don't want to say anymore, Frank would not like it and it would likely put a black spot on my MU Skull's record.  Needless to say, you won't be disappointed.

Well, this game won't be a surprise to some then...

Our games are scheduled at Union Station. Compared to all of the other places available this year how does this location rate?

Re: Union Station, How Does It Rate?

I played a game there last year and it was a pretty nice facility.  The room I was in (and the others from what I saw) seat 10 - 12 tables, so the noise isn't as bad.  Only drawback was the walk to the area from the ICC (ok, I'm lazy) and it closes at 4:00 a.m. (not good for games which run overnight).

    ?!?!?!?

Really?  I mean, really!?!  Fact is, the line should have read:  "Ashley J. Williams WILL be a PC in Crusaders vs. An Army of Darkness...and because we at the MU Skulls care, he WILL die like everyone else."

Let's be honest, I mean, death for the PC's is really the only thing we care about...

But to add support to Frank's new public relations policy...

Because we at the MU Skulls care, Francis Russell WILL be a PC in every game I run.

    That should make someone happy.

The only thing that was a bit of a bother was poor ventelation.  It got stuffy in the room I was in last year.

Re: Union Station, How Does It Rate?

Yea, Union Station itself wasn't bad, but trying to get from one game at the ICC to another at Union Station was a pain.  I had to leave 2 games and a seminar early to get to my next games.

Frank, if you let let me play Ashley, I will make it an unforgetable game, I promise.

What about food/drink?  If I remember correctly, there was nothing available at Union Station - no vending machines, nothing.  Did I miss something?

Not this year. Most of us are pressed for time these days and we choose either Gen Con or Origins. This year it's Gen Con. Next year....?
