There were a lot of great ideas tossed around the forums this year about how to honor Gary's memory at the show andwe took many of them to heart. Unfortunately, we couldn't do all of them (the mass die roll is one example of a personal favorite that just wasn't feasible for this year).
- a moment of silence in the exhibit hall at noon on Saturday
- the "Tower of Gygax" (see below)
- Grand Gygaxian Dice Collection
- Memorial Book
- Memorial Plaque
- all proceeds to benefit charity
We're doing several different things in Gary's memory this year; check out the
Gary Gygax Remembered web site for more details.
One big component to the program is the "Tower of Gygax," an RPG that will be running all weekend (here's the
first session in the registration system). In grand Gygaxian tradition, the continual dungeon will be as deadly as it is random. Players will rotate in and out "Killer Breakfast"-style. Each slot is only an hour long and
all ticket sales are going directly to charity, so I really want this to be a big success. Pass along the news, grab some friends, pop in for a quick game and honor everything Gary's given to our industry by indulging a quick and dirty romp with his rules.
