How should I package "X" items???

I've got a set of (CARWARS) Uncle Alberts Catalogs. 2035, 2036 and 2038. I also have a 1988 (2038) calendar as well. I had thought to package them all together and sell them in the store, but wonder if they should go up individually.

On a related CarWars note... I also have three division books. The 1 on 1 kind where you would actually cut up the book to use the cars on the back cover... cut out the mines, spikes, smoke, oil etc... debris cards, and the turn key for maneouvering as well. They're uncut/unpunched... however you want to describe it, and in near mint condition.

In both instances... package them together as a set, or enter them into the auction or auction store individually?

I wish there were a cure for stupid; until then, however, we'll just have to utilize home-remedy methods, like buckshot and jumpercables-to-the-gonads. ~Author - Unknown

More "How should I package" questions. :)

Shurikens...I have 4 I'm bringing. Two are 5 point stars, two are 4 point stars...

Package them all in one lot...

Seperate two 4 and two 5 point stars in two lots...

Or individual sale of each star?

On a related note... I have three  3 inch tall knights in armor made out of pewter. one lot, or sell all three individually?

I think you should batch 'em as one lot, and charge accordingly. CarWars fans know other CarWars fans, so if there's a duplicate in there for the buyer, he/she will prolly know someone who wants it.

I also have three division books... in near mint condition.

You might do better on stage... but store would work too. I'd go with individual and not batched, tho (primarily due to condition) with appropriate prices.

Best bet there, yah; two lots.

    On a related note...

Related? They're brothers and they carry shurikens? ;>

    TOVA, one lot.

     Clearing out basement so...

Vast numbers of decade+ old magic cards (Tens of thousands? Currently in a mix of binders and boxes)

Even more vast numbers of L5R cards (In binders, mostly, but wondering what is best format for selling large collections.. list some of the rarest cards and in cases, or ..???)

     Uncut card sheets

And... how would one package "Parts". As in, incomplete Samurai troopers (Or complete, but not in a box, so ..a touch scattered) or .. transformer "pieces"?

The best way to sell cards:

    1) Common cards: Give 'em away or sell as a single lot.  Those with large collections have no need of them and will be LESS likely to buy a mixed lot because they have to haul it home and then sort through it.

    2) Uncommon / etc.  Again, probably sell as one lot.  If you have multiple "types" you may want to split them up (e.g. "Black", "Blue", "Red", etc.)

    3) Rare: Here's where you make your money.  You can package them in smaller lots (perhaps even singles).  Make sure to detail exactly what cards are in the lot.  Many people might be looking for a specific card and mentioning one may be the deal maker!

    4) If you have complete sets (e.g. your binders?) then that is a good way to sell them too.  If you're missing a few from the set, make sure to note that on the tag.  Our auctioneers are brutal if you mis-represent an item!

We actually have some card experts on staff, so bring them in Wednesday before the con and they can help

L5R is usually pretty popular, but I don't know much about those cards.

A notable point: When there's a Very Large Collection (VLC) for sale, we've had great luck in advertising the specific day & time that it will be sold and displaying it beforehand. The size is often visually impressive, and the Seriously Interested can ask to inspect the VLC in greater detail (accompanied by a staffer; generally we do the handling, you do the looking). By the time the VLCs are offered they have several interested parties who know exactly what's going down, and the bids can really fly.

    Uncut card sheets

Depends entirely on the game of course. Uncut sheet of Magic Betas? Big time, baby; onstage superhot collectible. Uncut 'gee-I've-never-heard-of-that-game'? Blah... store is best.

how would one package "Parts". As in, incomplete Samurai troopers (Or complete, but not in a box, so ..a touch scattered) or .. transformer "pieces"?

I've seen "Bits" (as we oft call 'em) go quite well when brought up onstage during the appropriate slot. When we're doing GW minis, a box of GW bits can be very well received; the audience is primed and ready. Be sure your description is highly detailed (pre-reg it of course), and add a note for us to display it to those interested (a staffer will take it to an area near the stage for a few minutes). otoh if you have 2000 assorted chits from 50 different wargames, they're not gonna go for much... In any event, stick with stage not store, as loose Bits can vanish too easily.

*Nod* I am looking at roughly fourteen full Xerox boxes of cards, that I will get as organized as possible ahead of time.. I know that displaying them in binders with sheets would get the best visibility, but I am hesitant to spend over a hundred dollars in binders and card sheets and dozens of hours and end up taking a loss after factoring in binder costs.

At the least... I am assuming that fourteen xerox boxes and estimating in the hundreds of thousands of cards counts as "Very Large Collection"?.

Also, as I do not believe it is physically possible for me to get to Indianapolis before 8pm Wednesday night, is there -any- way of getting items into the building -before- 9am on Thursday? Or even rentals of push cart thingies? ^_^

Also, is there still time to  Preregister? When is the latest we can put items up?
(Not looking forward to counting the cards -- I don't want to be accused of misrepresenting how many cards are in any given set.)

Could certainly happen. Go easy there.

    Sure.

The timing thing is a question for Bruce or Jon. Iffy but maybe, is my guess, for a special case this physically large.

Nobody on site rents carts, and getting one from convention services (George Fern & Co.) costs money; feel free to ask them.

Be sure to prereg before Sunday. Bruce (in Massachusetts) shuts down the prereg database this Sunday, and brings it (on CD I guess) to the con.

Re: How should I package "X" items???

A common question every year seems to be "When is the last day that I can preregister items".  You can always answer this question for yourself.  Go to the pre-registration site:

    http://www.livegameauctions.com

Click on the "Preregister your Games" link, sign in and the deadline is shown.

NOTE: The deadline is the last day to add / make changes to your item preregistrations.  The site remains open (read only) so that you can print your tags right up until you head to the convention.
