Anime & Film schedule update - classic b movies added

Just an FYI for everyone - I've added a bunch of late additions to the schedule, fleshing things out a bit more.

They should all be online now (though I still need to add descriptions for many events - I wanted to get titles and times out as early as I could) and they'll be in the downloadable event catalog once it updates today.

Of particular note are the B-movies I've added to the schedule in partnership with the B Movie Celebration:

    title preferred_day_slot startdate
First Spaceship on Venus Thursday 2008-08-14 11:00:00
The Brain That Wouldn't Die Thursday 2008-08-14 14:00:00
Carnival of Souls Friday 2008-08-15 10:00:00
    Chopping Mall Friday 2008-08-15 23:30:00
Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster Saturday 2008-08-16 21:00:00
The Lost Empire Saturday 2008-08-16 22:30:00
Gigantis: The Fire Monster Sunday 2008-08-17 12:00:00

There are also lots more anime (and films!) added to the schedule now. You should probably expect a few more updates as well, but those will only be the addition of an event here or there.

As always, make sure to stop by the Westin HQ to pick up a final schedule on-site.

Oh man, Godzilla vs The Smog Monster!  I remember seeing that at the drive-in back in the day.  There's some eco-message in that one, heh.

Awesome! Film schedule is looking a lot better this year.

But, um, looked at that B movie celebration website......could somebody please explain to me how Once Upon A Time In The West can be considered a B-movie by any stretch of the imagination?

Same here. And those who haven't seen Carnival of Souls, do yourself a favor and check it out if you have the time.

Needs Troma, or possibly Re-Animator/something from Evil Dead?

I have been subjected to way too much Troma recentl but I know they would be popular!  I agree with "Evil Dead"...would love to see "Freaks", "Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" and anything from Hammer Studios!

As much as I love that, I may be worried that *some* people might get offended by that one, I was thinking the first Class of Nuke Em High or Toxic Avenger movie.

    Highly disappointed, Derek...tsk, tsk....

I wait all week to watch Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster and what do I get?????

Godzilla: King of Monsters?????? I expect Horrible acting and Technicolor Godzilla, and what do I get??? Raymond Burr's horrible acting and strange little relationship with his policeman friend, and Black-and White Godzilla!!!!!

You are so lucky I can MST3K that movie with the best of them!!

    Stick out tongue

    I really am a bit sad though...sigh....

Yea, I was there with HW and my son, he was pumped to see it as well, but on a good note he had never seen the original and really enjoyed it. I fully expect G vs Smog next year though!!

That does suck.  How can you go from Godzilla The Hippy vs The Industrial Complex Creature to Perry Mason and the Case of the Irate Lizard

Plus, Godzilla v The Smog Monster had a much better theme song.

Hm. That's the first I've heard of that change. I'll have to talk to the B Movie guys and find out what happened... Doesn't make me happy either...

It's still cool that they were there.  I know that Origins has the Smithee Awards so having some B Schlock Cinema at Gen Con is great as well.
