The Good:
-The Auction Hall. I went to the con with a short list of stuff I wanted, and I got all of it, and then some, relatively cheaply. Loads of fun.
-India Palace. Had a great lunch there Wednesday, the best place I've eaten at in Indy (thus far)
-Most of the RPGA judges I had for various games (more on this below)
-Great stuff from Crystal Caste (like they need the plug.....)
-Going alone, and being unfettered as far as.....well, everything.....
-Return of the Ghostbusters. If the director/writer is reading this? Your script was great, the movie was very funny and the sense of humor was perfectly in step with the official movies. That movie looked like it cost more that $3,000, too. Good stuff.
-My team for the Championship this year. We didn't advance past the qualifier, but a vast, vast improvement over last year's lineup.
-The con in general. I had a great time.
The Bad:
-My badge being completely missing from my packet. WTF? (In the interest of fairness, this was rectified pretty quickly.)
Customer Service: "Are you sure you didn't have it set on Ship To Me?"
Me (for the fifth time in 2 minutes): "Uh-huh......"
-The Stink. A huge disappointment for me. I thought it would have been an good opportunity to meet some other forumites, but not so much. Too big, and not really structured to facilitate mixing. I met a nice person or two, but I'll probably skip this in the future.
-The judge I had for my 1-5 Core 1 RPGA game on Saturday afternoon. Honestly, I think most of the RPGA volunteers do a kickass job given the circumstances they have to work with. Most of the judges and other RPGA folks I had interaction with throughout the con were friendly and organized. When running a game like 4E D&D that has many combat variables, you need to be prepared. That means NOT LEAVING YOUR DAMN RULEBOOKS IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM. That means using some means of clearly indicating marks, bloodiness, challenges, etc. That means not shrugging at the players when asked a question. That means not letting players overanalyze a situation when every other judge is like, "Ok, this is a skill challenge. Here's how this works......" That means not saying stuff like "18 Reflex? Your fighter has an 18 Reflex save? I don't believe you........" I see so many examples of gamers who refuse to perpetuate stereotypes of the typical gamers, then I see schmucks like this judge who do nothing but perpetuate said stereotypes......the next time I have a judge that crap, I'll go right ahead and tell them where the dog died.....
-The new RPGA numbering system, in which I was told to record my RPGA number a different way by literally every other judge I had.

The Ugly-
-The Downtown Days Inn. Hey, I can't say it was bad. The beds were clean and comfortable, and there were no roaches. However, it certainly wasn't pretty....
-The decorum of Security at the con. Ranting about "faggots" and "homosexuals", fighting with girlfriends/wives on the cell phone, etc, etc. See above rant RE: Perpetuation of Stereotypes.
-And the ugliest of all? The crowd going to the Colts game on Sunday, grinding outgoing traffic to a halt and substantially increasing cab fares.
