If the chnace to win a VIG doesn't entice you, there are chances to rate the GC website, etc.

One problem with the survey is it assumes I stayed at a hotel, either connected, disconnected, or far away from the ICC.

What about those who stay at home, or at the home of a friend?

Done and done. Yea, there were a few questions I thought needed better choices and/or they needed better questions. {shrugs} its done though.

I thought this was interesting too and have to think it is to get an idea about next year, see my post about VIGs...

By him getting the VIG, we got into the Marriott, cost split 50/50.  I miss the old Early Bird days and I am willing to pay a good bit more for being connected to the Convention Center.

Be interesting to see if VIGs become the new early birds!

Yeah!  That buggered me up as well - sure hope my survey doesn't get pitched in the e-trash because they think I just skipped the first Hotel questions!

I liked the question "What establishments do you frequent other than GenCon Indy?"

Um...  Like gas stations and grocery stores and game stores and Kmart and Target and restaurants?

For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood and every spring there is a different green.

That one kind of threw me too... My parking option also wasn't available...I may have driven to the con in a car, but my friend dropped me off and I was picked up on Sunday to not have to deal with parking at all...Granted, my situation wasn't the norm, but "other" would've been a nice choice.

Yeah, I was a little uncertain how to answer that one, myself, so I interpreted it as asking where I go while I'm at the convention itself.

So, I listed the restaurants and bars I go to while in Indy.

I took the survey this morning too.  Some rather odd questions, but most of it was pretty simple...I did have trouble too with the establishments question myself.

The ones that scared me the most were the ones asking me HOW MUCH I'd be willing to pay for the hotels.  Like they are exploring a huge rate hike and wonder how much they can get away with...probably just a bit of paranoia on my part, but those just stuck out to me...anyway, I was honest about those questions and put what we are paying now for the rooms.

No survey is perfect to be sure.   However, I thought that the question about "what establishments you frequent other than Gen Con Indy" was a little ill defined as a question.  And it was a single question just plopped in between other sets of questions which were clearly related to each other.

I took the question to mean what businesses do you patronize in Indy during the convention which are in the convention proper.  Thinks like:  Specific Bars and Resturants, the Mall, The Movie theaters, or (for me) the baseball stadium.

For those who were wondering, in other threads, where Gen Con got its demographic information - this survey is it.

When asking when folks got to the show Wednesday is way too late. We had decent gamer sign on Tuesday so maybe adding a Monday and Tuesday to the mix might add interesting information.

I came in Tuesday too.  Maybe, the needed a response that merely stated "before Wednesday" which would have accounted for anyone coming in before Wednesday.  I think that would be specific enough without needing to get in to seperate options for Tuesday and Monday.

While people don't like that surveys ask for income levels, it is important to any business to know who they are selling their product to.  In the case of Gen Con, the demographic information, including age, education level, income level, etc.  is very important with respect to both the marketing of the convention itself, and marketing the convention to potential exhibitors.

Re: The Survey is out, the survey is out!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was baffled by the question about what other establishments I visit.  I left it blank.

None of the when did you arrive options apply to me either since I arrived on Tuesday afternoon.

I didn't like the parking options since I went with an alternative and parked my car somewhere other than the hotel/convention center area where I was staying.

I don't mind sharing my household income for surveys like that because demographics are very important.  If the trend shows higher income people going then the events and merchandise will be more in line with what we can afford.  If they show that people don't have money then the prices will stay low on items vendors bring.

Re: The Survey is out, the survey is out!

One thing I was wondering about, is the question that said "If you could only attend ONE of these events next year."..
Is this a normal question? There were several of my favorites on that list that it made it hard to choose, I'd hate to see any of them go away next year.

Re: The Survey is out, the survey is out!

    ^^^

That question was a little odd too.  It seemed to be mixing apples and oranges so to speak.  For example, True Dungeon ( a ticketed event with a specific run time) was included with some thing like the Auction, which you can pretty much wander in to at your leisure and decide to bid or not.

Again, no survey is perfect, I think they are just trying to gauge some overall level of popularity of Gen Con activities.

I wonder if more people pick socialize as their one favorite activity, if they will do away with all events and just have us talk amongst ourselves and do nothing but pick up games.
