I raise my stout (at the Granite City in the Indy airport) to you, hale! Thanks to the folks at Wizards for getting me into a game, even though I was running late to it. And thanks to all the folks who hosted games and made my experience so wonderful.

I really hope to be able to return next year (and I will if I'm still employed!). Hopefully the will call issues will be sorted out by then, I think I may order my tix and badge fed ex next time though. It was a bummer to wait 2 hours on Thursday but my experience at the con far outshined any problems.

Also for next time, I may get more generics and only schedule 2-4 events. In spite of all prior warnings from my friends, the Exhibitor Hall was more awe inspiring than I could have imagined. I inadvertently missed two events because I got so lost in there, and I'm sure I didn't see more than half of it! If next year pans out, I'll be coming on Wednesday and will join you all at The Stink!

Once again, thanks folks, it was great meeting some of you and hope to meet more next time around.

Problem is i won't be able to pick up my badge until 7am the next day so I'll be badgeless wandering the convention center. I remember last year the guards doing checks and I'm hoping I can show them my badge receipt and ID to show that I purchased a badge but haven't been able to pick it up yet. I really wanna get some gaming in when I get there.

So... how boned am I? Any chance they'll let me stay and play without my badge?

Seeking cosplay photographer

Hey~ I'm an avid cosplayer looking for a photographer to work with at Gencon this year

I have some professional cosplay modeling experience, and I have modeled for art projects of friends and colleagues . I'm hoping to find someone who will work without direct pay ( don't have moolah to pay for sessions x-x;; ) . However, what I can offer is work in trade. I'm skilled at not only sewing and prop work associated with cosplay, I have experience in web/graphic design, pinup doodles and paintings, and hair/makeup styling,

At Gencon this year I will be wearing the following costumes;

Thursday - Nick - Left for Dead 2 ( my boyfriend will also be cosplaying as Ellis )
Friday - Meru - The Legend of Dragoon
Saturday - Morrigan - Dragon Age Origins ( Sacred Ashes version )
Sunday - Lebreau - Final Fantasy XIII ***

If anyone would be interested in working with us, that would be fantastic :D I reside in Indianapolis, so a somewhat local photographer is prefered( in working together on future projects of trade ). However, travel is a possibility that can be considered.

So yes :D If this sounds like something you would be interested, feel free to send me a message. Please include a link to any portfolio you have online. You can find pictures of my work on my facebook profile **www.facebook.com/people/Jett-Lynn/100001409898228**

Famous person needs a room for late night 8/4 until morning 8/5!

Disregard this post, all settled!

Female looking for housing Aug 3 or 4 with check-out on Aug 7

Long story short, got my ticket for Gen Con and don't have anywhere to sleep now. I have an air mattress so you don't have to share a bed with me. It's my first time at Gen Con, so I don't know where everything will be and would prefer to be within walking distance. You don't have to babysit me though because can take care of myself.

I will be cosplaying a few different characters, so I would like to have a small area to put my props and clothing. No worries about my props, the biggest one does come apart for easy storage.

Wow. It was easy to go through housing and get a room. And I even got my first choice at the Springhill Suites.
The only glitch: it was a *bit* slow loading at 11am central time.

I'm a Boston-based gamer and writer for the New York Times and Boston Globe with a new book that's coming out September 1 from Globe Pequot/The Lyons Press. Called "Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks: An Epic Quest for Reality Among Role Players, Online Gamers, and Other Dwellers of Imaginary Realms," the narrative non-fiction book is (what I hope is) a humorous, lively, and provocative blend of travelogue, pop culture analysis, and memoir.

And I'm kicking off my nationwide book tour at Gen Con.

At Gen Con, I'll be at the Troll Lord Games booth (# 221) meeting folks and selling and signing books. I'll also be giving two readings followed by two booksignings immediately following:

Reading schedule:
Friday 8/14, 3-4pm, location: Marriott Phoenix
& Sat 8/15 4-5pm, location: Marriott Phoenix

Book Signing schedule:
Friday 8/14, 4-5pm, location: Author’s Avenue
& Saturday 8/15, 5-6pm, location: Author’s Avenue

"Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks" plumbs, explains and celebrates fantasy and gaming subcultures like Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft, Harry Potter, the Society for Creative Anachronism, LARPS, and D&D.On a quest that begins in my own geeky teenage past and ends in our online gaming future, I ask gaming and fantasy geeks how they balance their so-called "escapist" urges with the kingdom of adulthood, crisscrossing America, the world, and other worlds—from Boston to Wisconsin, New Zealand to France, and Planet Earth to the realm of Aggramar. I also spend time in the book debunking popular stereotypes about gamers and geeks.

Here's what some folks have to say:

"a breathless adventure/quest/memoir " –Andrei Codrescu, NPR commentator and author ofThe Posthuman Dada Guide

"Witty, downright funny, poignant, honest and ... well, wistful....Reading Ethan Gilsdorf's tale conjured my own Dungeons & Dragons and fantasy experiences, vividly, right down to finding some of my old character sheets in a 3-ring binder a decade and more after I had stopped using them." –R.A. New comers are always welcome. In fact, the last two years, new players have been some of our best players. We will be having Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling(usually our largest group), and Mage (usually our largest group). You may get dressed in to your favorite character, vampire, scruffy human that is really a werewolf, a wizard or a maybe a happy go lucky child of the Fae.

Seminar AKA SEM
This is an introduction seminar on the rules and manners of White Wolf's classic World of Darkness LARP. As new LARP systems have come out we understand people are rusty or do not know the old system and we wish to help you learn it in preparation for "When you wish upon a star" This seminar is designed for beginners but could also serve as a refresher for the more experienced players.

The Game. AKA LRP.
All have heard the song "When you wish upon a star", but what if the arrival of a red star coincides with the return of an old foe? This event continues last year's classic World of Darkness game "The Last Stand". Players represent Kindred stuck in an endless revolution, Garou looking for a means to defeat the star, Mages vying for 2 sources of quintessence, or Fae struggling to protect their history. Will you still wish upon stars at the end?
